Congratulations to RPIMS's First Term Honor Roll students!


A-Honor Roll status is earned with letter grades of all "A" grades with no more that 1 "B" grade. A/B-Honor Roll status is earned with letter grades of all "A" and "B" grades with no more that 1 "C" grade. Students that earn honor roll status for each of the first three grading terms will be invited to the Honor Roll Breakfast in May - an outstanding celebration of achievement! Keep up the good work, Rangers!


Ranger-to-the-CORE eligibility has once again been communicated to students for the 3rd nine weeks: all passing letter grades in content classes, "A" grade in citizenship, and 2 or less missed days of school (excused or unexcused). Remember Rangers, RttC eligibility is designed to challenge you to excel in the areas of academics, citizenship and presence - best wishes to all Rangers in attaining this level of excellence in the term ahead!

School Rules that Some Students Find Inconvenient

This section of the newsletter is for the purpose of helping parents and guardians support students in understanding the need for guidelines that the adolescent mind often seeks to test. This week's focus is cooperation during emergency situations.


School Safety Measure: Students are to be cooperative by being silent (level 0) and orderly during emergency situations including practice drills.

Rationale: In the event of an emergency, students will need to be able to hear and respond respond to directives that are pertinent to everyone's safety.

Inconvenience to Students: Transition and travel times times during the day are often times that allow for free association among students.

School Allowances: The school takes great care is discussing emergency protocols and expectations in advance of a drill. While a real emergency may not allow for set-up, RP believes that students will respond how they are trained, so the cooperation of all is demanded during an emergency drill.

Morning Student Arrival Information

Parents and Guardians,

As the weather becomes increasingly colder, it is important to review our morning drop-off procedures. Recently, we have had a large number of students on campus prior to 8:30 a.m. This presents a safety concern as those students are standing outside in frigid temperatures and are left unsupervised.

  • Students are not able to enter the building until 8:30 a.m. This is the earliest we can guarantee appropriate adult supervision.
  • Students should NOT be dropped off prior to 8:30 a.m. each day; if they are, they will be standing in cold temperatures until staff supervision arrives and students are let in to the cafeteria.
  • Given that school begins at 8:55 a.m. for 5th and 6th grade students and 9:02 a.m. for 7th and 8th grade students, the school is allowing families an additional 25-30 minutes of time for their student to be supervised by inviting students in the building at 8:30 a.m.
  • Please use this information and follow the Car Line Procedures (below) to create the car-rider line safety for morning and afternoon travel.
  • Please also follow the instructions of all staff members outdoors as they direct and supervise parking lot and drop-off line areas.

The safety and supervision of your student and our staff is always our top priority - we ask for you support in helping us with these efforts.

From the Office of Exceptional Learners:

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.

RPI&MS PTSA News

Don't forget to join our Parent Teacher Student Association and support all of the wonderful student activities and events throughout the school year! Your $7 membership earns you a weekly PTSA electronic newsletter and membership incentives. Our PTSA sponsors Back To School Night treats, Warren Homefest, the quarterly CORE Celebrations, teacher reimbursement for school supplies, open gym nights, family bingo night, field trip fundraisers, end of year celebration treat for all students, 8th grade celebration gift, and staff appreciation days. Our PTSA coordinates the school-PTSA joint fall fundraiser, grade level fundraisers, weekly slushy sales, RP-AMC monthly family movie events, Box Top collection contests, quarterly roller skating parties at the Roller Cave and Sonny Day Community Center volunteering nights. We have over 400 members this year! Join us!!

The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/ social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/ political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
