Lincoln Elementary Monthly Newsletter: January

Letter from the Principal:

Dear Lincoln Families,

Happy New Year! I hope all of our Lincoln Families enjoyed the holidays and winter break! We are thrilled to welcome you back to school!

As we kick off 2022, we look forward to sharing with you our new mission, values, and vision statements. Staff, families, and students all weighed in on what their vision is for Lincoln Elementary, and we are thrilled to share the final version with you! To see these statements, please check out the graphic below!

This month we will be FAST testing for grades K-5 the first and second week of January. This is the second of three FAST screenings for the year. These assessments help us understand how our students are growing in the area of reading. K-1 students will also take the FAST math assessment. The third and fourth week of January students in grades 2-5 will also take the MAP assessment, which assesses both math and reading skills. The results of these assessments will be shared with families at conferences in February.

Important dates for January are listed below! Please note that there is no school on Monday, January 17th, as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!

During our winter break we finally saw a significant amount of snow! As temperatures get colder and with snow on the ground, it is important that students come to school each day with winter coats, hats, gloves, snow boots and snow pants. If you need any assistance with any of these items please reach out to our school counselor, Lindsay Boyer at lboyer@dbqschools.org!

One way to stay up to date on all things Lincoln is by joining our Facebook page and regularly visiting our website. Please stay posted to the Lincoln Facebook page for key information and future events. https://www.facebook.com/LincolnLionsDBQ/

Another way to get involved with Lincoln Elementary is joining PALS - our Lincoln Elementary stakeholder association. Monthly meetings will occur on the last Monday of every month. A full list of PALS meeting dates are below! We will conduct regular business meetings via Zoom from 5:30-6:15 PM. Our January PALS meeting will take place on Monday, January 31st from 5:30-6:15 PM via zoom.

Thank you for being a part of our Lincoln Family! You are our Lions, and you are our Pride!
