ISB senior, Shun Wetlesen, will be one of 12 students going to Washington, DC this July for a week to attend the Global Classmate Summit 2018. During this week, Shun will stay at a Georgetown University dorm and will engage in a wide range of activities. All expenses will be paid by Kizuna Across Cultures organization. Walk+ Roll to School Day - May 9
Walking and rolling (including busing) are great ways to get to school.
ISB students are encouraged to be more active and healthy with May’s Walk+Roll Challenge.
Why Should We Walk+ Roll?
- For personal and community health
- Less cars = less congestion
- Less cars = increased traffic safety
- Improved neighborhood livability for everyone
Get ready to walk, bike or roll to school any day or every day in May!
School Breakfast is Cool!
Everyday is a perfect day for school breakfast!
As the summer approaches, kids often become more restless and distracted at school. You can help to make sure that their last weeks of school are productive by ensuring that they begin the day with a nutritious breakfast. Studies show a good breakfast makes kids more alert, less distractible, and better behaved in school; it can even improve their test scores!
Let’s keep our students focused by making sure they begin every school day with a balanced meal at home or at the School Breakfast Program.
State Assessment Score Reporting
The administration of our state assessment is currently taking place through June 1st.
Beginning this year, state test scores are available in ParentVUE! You will be able to see your child’s test results sooner than in prior years with less impact on the environment. For the English Language and Math tests, a student’s score is available in ParentVUE two weeks after both parts of the test are completed. Science test scores are available in Parent VUE three days after the test is completed. The Testing Information tab in ParentVUE has links to additional information about your child’s scores. If you need assistance activating a ParentVUE account, please contact your child’s school.
Students whose parents/guardians do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive a paper report of test scores. Paper score reports will be sent home with students on the last day of school. Score reports will be mailed over the summer for students with test results that arrive after the paper score reports are printed in June. Students with at least one parent/guardian with ParentVUE access may request a printed report by contacting Kay Jenkins by email at kay_jenkins@beaverton.k12.or.us or by phone at 503.356.4594.
P.E. Student Survey
In addition to data collection for the Carol White PE PEP grant, for the next two years all 5th and 8th grade students will be surveyed in an online nutrition and PE survey in order to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District’s Physical Education and nutrition plan. The student survey window is: May 9 - June 8.
The District is surveying 5th and 8th grade students to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District’s Physical Education and nutrition plan.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
A copy of the survey is available from your child's school and is posted at
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify Mr. Carey Gladney at scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us.
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
Después de revisar la encuesta, si usted no quiere que su hijo participe, por favor notifique al Sr. Carey Gladney a scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us.
