Rowe Lane News Updates
The month of October is such a busy month, however, we're taking the time at Rowe Lane to recognize individuals who demonstrate resiliency and courage when faced with challenges. We recognize individuals who have been affected by Breast Cancer, individuals with Dyslexia, and individuals with Down Syndrome through Breast Cancer Awareness, Dyslexia Awareness, and Down Syndrome Awareness month!
Our Rocket Community will also support our students in being Bully & Drug-Free through Red Ribbon Week, October 26th-30th. We've planned for themed dress-up days for our students and a campus food drive to support the Circle of Hope food pantry in Pflugerville. More information about this month's events can be found below!
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures for On-Campus Learners
We highly encourage the use of the yellow pick-up tags to assist with parent pick-up and car rider dismissal. Parents/guardians picking up students will need to wait on the front lawn in the grade level designated areas, indicated by labeled cones. If you are picking up multiple students from this area, please wait in the highest grade level first, then move to the next grade level waiting spot.
On-Campus Arrival
- Rowe Lane's front doors will be open to students at 7:05 a.m. Students who arrive prior to 7:05 will be asked to wait outside the building on a "wait spot" to maintain social distancing.
- Upon arrival, students will sit on a "wait spot" outside their classroom until 7:20.
- Students will enter their classrooms at 7:20 to unpack and eat breakfast.
- Breakfast is free of charge for all students this school year.
- Staff arrival teams will support students in locating their classrooms.
Parents/guardians are unable to enter the building for morning drop-off.
On-Campus Dismissal
- 2:42 Bus riders will be dismissed
- 2:45 EDP & daycare students will be dismissed
- 2:48 5th grade bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
- 2:50 4th grade bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
- 2:52 3rd grade bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
- 2:54 1st grade bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
- 2:56 2nd grade bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
- 2:58 Pre-K & Kindergarten bikers, walkers, and parent pick-ups will be dismissed
Parents/guardians are unable to enter the building for afternoon dismissal.
Bikers & Walkers
- Students will exit through the side South doors and be dismissed at the bike racks.
- Students walking home with siblings will wait in the interior of the primary playground wall until all siblings are together.
The grassy area near the bike racks and the sidewalk along the bus lane will be off-limits to parents/guardians. Only student bikers and walkers will have access to the sidewalk to support a safe dismissal for our children.
Parent Pick-Up
- Parents who plan to pick up their child in-person will wait in a designated grade level area on the front lawn. Teachers will release students to parents as they walk by the designated pick-up areas.
- Parents who plan to pick up their child by car will wait in the carline. Students will be seated on "wait spots" with their class in front of the school building.
Classroom teachers will provide families with student pick-up tags to assist with parent-pick up during dismissal. Place the pick-up tag in a visible area of your car dashboard or hang on the rear-view mirror. Families picking up students in-person will present the pick-up tag to their child's teacher.

PfISD Updates
Dear PfISD Parents/Guardians,
Our second 9-weeks grading period is officially underway, and we have welcomed some more students to our campuses. As we begin Phase 3 of our phase-in plan, any student who wishes to participate in on-campus learning may now attend classes in-person, and all our students who want to utilize our virtual learning option may do so as well. We will continue to offer online learning for the remainder of the school year for any student who wishes.
As students move back and forth between virtual learning and on-campus learning, we anticipate changes in classrooms and class sizes. We will do our best to ensure our on-campus classes are within TEA recommendations, but please understand this may require your child to have a schedule or class change when adjustments are made.
We also are launching our new Learning Management System (LMS) this week. Canvas will allow our parents more options in monitoring their children’s assignments, grades and more. We have already received outstanding reviews from some parents on social media on the features and user experience with Canvas.
This week will be an adjustment with the launch of Canvas and for our students who are switching from one learning method to another, so I ask that everyone please grant students, teachers and parents grace this week as the new norm make take some getting used to. We also are allowing our teachers to use Canvas as a way to link back to their current Google Classroom if they choose for the rest of the semester.
FREE Flu Shots On Campuses
We are happy to announce that Health Hero will be on all of our school campuses on Monday, Oct. 19, providing free flu vaccinations for students. Each campus should be communicating to its respective parents in its usual methods with more campus-specific details regarding time, how to turn complete and turn in your consent forms and more.
Virtual learners may also participate in the flu vaccine clinics from Health Hero. Each campus will have dedicated time for students participating in virtual learning to come to campus for their flu shot when they can avoid the on-campus student population.
It is important that parents check for communication from their children’s principals regarding their specific campus plans and procedures. The flu vaccine is not required, but completing a consent form is if you wish for your child to receive the free flu vaccine from Health Hero on Monday, Oct. 19.
Campus Safety Walks
Campus and district leadership are continuing to participate in safety walks on our campuses to check on the COVID-19 protocols we have in place and are reporting their assessments or needs for each campus to top level administrators so we can make decisions on how we can improve or make adjustments where needed.
New COVID-19 Dashboard
I wanted to remind you that PfISD has a new, updated dashboard for reporting all positive COVID-19 cases we have on our campuses. We listened to feedback from our community regarding the dashboard and redesigned it to now include both the weekly data and cumulative numbers.
I encourage you all to take some time to explore the dashboard and familiarize yourself with how it functions. The tables do not allow for all our campuses to be listed on the same page, so you must click on the arrows to toggle between pages that list our campuses. There also is a drop-down menu that allows you to select a specific campus.
Another aspect our community wanted to see reflected in the dashboard was breaking down cases between staff and students on campus. The new dashboard now displays data that separates these data points, both cumulative and weekly.
You can find our new dashboard by clicking on the COVID-19 Dashboard icon located prominently on our website. You may also use this link to get to it directly: https://www.pfisd.net/Page/8013.
The data on the new dashboard is coded to reflect data through Fridays. The most recent data currently reflects cumulative numbers through Friday, Oct. 9, and the weekly data would be from Saturday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 9.
Our dashboard will continue to be updated weekly, now on Fridays. This is standard protocol as the majority of other school districts in our area are updating their data once a week as well.
Please Utilize Let’s Talk for Feedback
We value the feedback our community members provide us. Our Community Relations office wants to encourage our community and staff members to utilize the Let’s Talk tool on our website to send your feedback, questions, concerns, compliments and more. We have recently added more topics to choose from that will ensure your question goes directly to a person who can coordinate and answer your question. In adding these new topics, we have also added more personnel to the system who can respond to you in a timely manner.
Many of our community members are replying directly to our weekly update emails, however they can get filtered to a spam folder and delay our responses. We want to receive your feedback and respond as quickly as possible, and Let’s Talk is the easiest way to ensure that.
You can find our Let’s Talk website by clicking the Let’s Talk icon that is prominently located on our website or by visiting: https://www.pfisd.net/Page/7772.
Let’s approach this next phase in our school year with enthusiasm and dedication for the role we all play in it. Whether we are teachers, students, staff or administrators we all can make a difference and impact someone’s experience for the better. We all have challenges that we will face, and we all can help each other to get through them.
Together we are strong. Together we are a Pfamily. Together we can do anything.
In the best interest of children,
Dr. Douglas Killian
PfISD Superintendent of Schools
Queridos padres/tutores:
