Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of success. If you insulate yourself from failure, you also insulate yourself from success. Every struggle, every disappointment, every heart break, every setback represents two choices. You can quit and retreat to yesterday or you can adjust and set sail tomorrow. Michael Jordan set sail. Be like Mike.

STAR Reports
Classroom teachers in K-6 sent home STAR Early Literacy (K-1) and STAR Reading & Math (2-6) Parent Reports. You should have received them. This report shows how well your child did on the assessment they took earlier this month. If you have any questions about the report, please feel free to ask me.
Differentiated Engagement Block
Students in grades 1 - 6 have a Differentiated Engagement Block (DEB) four days a week for 30 minutes. DEB started this week. Students in grades 3 -6 identified as gifted in the area of reading have DEB for 45 minutes. DEB is aimed at providing enrichment and support of tier I instruction. A vast majority of students are focusing on reading text that is fiction or non-fiction (grade level dependent) and are focusing on extracting key ideas and details. Parents should have received a letter from their child's DEB teacher letting you know who their DEB teacher is and what skills they are focusing on during DEB.
