Gabriel's Gazette

Santo Niño Faculty and Staff Newsletter

Gabriel's Gazette

We are playing around with the name of the Faculty and Staff Newsletter. Since the Archangel Gabriel is a messenger of God, we thought we would try this. You can read more about him here:

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06330a.htm

Let us know what you think about the name. Should we change it?

New Staff

We have several new staff: Steven Lang, Janice Marco, Joe Garcia, Chris Montoya, Natasha Lavroushin, Alyssia Blea and possible several more!

If you are new to Santo Nino this year, there is a new employee orientation at the Catholic Center in Albuquerque on August 3rd from 9am-12pm. Maybe we can carpool together? There are a bunch of us!

We are still currently in need of another kindergarten, 1st, and art teachers. If you know anyone, have them send their resume to Dirk Steffens at dsteffens@santoninoregional.org.

Faculty Staff and Our Familes Potluck Lunch

Saturday, Aug. 4th, 12-3pm

St Anne Parish Hall, 511 Alicia Street

This is a pot luck lunch for faculty, staff and our families. It is a wonderful time to build the family atmosphere together as we move forward to a wonderful new school year! Also, PTO is putting together some door prizes for us! How fun is that!?

Let Christine Lopez know what you would like to bring. Her email address is clopez@santoninoregional.org.

Announcing the Holy Child Chapel

Announcing the Holy Child Chapel
The room that was previously The Learning Center, which was moved to room 502, will be converted to the Holy Child Chapel with enough seating for 20 students and 1 teacher. It is a few months down the road for construction, but we will have a chapel in the school!

Lip sync Challenge

Have you seen the police Lip sync challenge? We are going to do it in honor of the police. The first week that we are back (after August 6th) we want to do a lip sync in honor of the police and donate $100 to a police charity. We will then challenge all the other Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to do the same.

What song you ask? Well, see below. Father John suggested this song and I think it fits perfectly! Start thinking of how we want to lip sync and dance with a few of the priests in the area. This is going to be so much fun!

Thank you!

Thank you to all of those that were able to come in and help with grouping, scheduling, and supply organization. We are getting closer to getting everything ready for the school year and it is very much appreciated!

August 6th-10th

We are working on several ideas for our first week of school. My current thoughts are to have professional development in the mornings and then you can work in your classrooms in the afternoon. We will get more information out to you as the schedule comes together. Some of the topics we are looking at are:

Technology-Class Dojo, Google Docs, Groupme, Sign-up genius, and MSP.

Curriculum & Grades

Lesson Plans and Scope and Sequence

School Security

Restorative Justice

Jesus Chair

I wish my Teacher knew...

If there is anything else you can think of, please let me know!

Speaking of August 6th-10th

If you are in need of child care that week, please let Christine Lopez know.

It's about you!

Big picture

We need a short paragraph description about you! What is your background, education, hobbies, etc...and why do you do what you do?

Once we get this newsletter set up for families, we will highlight 2-3 people each week so our students and families get to know us better. Write something up and send it to dsteffens@santoninoregional.org.
