Student Support Newsletter: September 28th - October 2nd
Week 7
Parents/guardians, this week students are talking about Thinking Win-Win (Habit 4 in Leader in Me) and Social Contracts. Please ask your children about the importance of respect and rules in society, home and school. More information on ways to focus on health this week is included below under "Mindfulness Practices of the Week."
1st Friday 1st Hour/REUNIÓN MENSUAL CON LA DIRECTORA

Mindfulness Practices of the Week: Focus Object/PRÁCTICAS DE LA SEMANA: CONCENTRACIÓN
As you focus on your object, breathe deeply and try to think about NOTHING. If your mind wanders, tell yourself “Not right now” and try again to clear your mind. Another strategy is to focus on your object—ex: if you object is a clock, say the word “CLOCK” out loud or to yourself. Focus on your object and the sound or rhythm of your breath. Use this technique when you feel stressed or when your brain needs a break. Set a timer to help you.
FAMILY ACTIVITY: Use any focus object or a favorite item you have at home as a strategy to clear your mind. Focus on the object by staring at it for one minute. As you focus, breathe deeply, focus on feeling your breath and try to clear your mind of all thoughts. This takes practice, but you can do it!
Challenge: Practice using the focus object technique as a family for relieving stress this week. Post a picture to Twitter with #LPEPawsUP of what you have selected as your own focus object. Tell us how it is working for you.
