Wolf Pup Weekly
Woodriver Issue #5 - 9/16/22
FROM PRINCIPAL GUY
Hello Wolf Pup parents! We had 93% attendance this past week. We are still at 91% for the
quarter but with another week like last week, we will be a lot closer to our goal of
92%. We had three days last week of 94% attendance! Great job!
It is starting to get cooler during recess and many students are bringing jackets
outside. I highly recommend you put names in the gear, especially more expensive
jackets. Ms. Stepovich and I carry in several items each day and before we bring
them to the Lost and Found we check for names. If there is a name we can return it
to the owner, if not, they join the ever-growing pile of unclaimed clothing.
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our Open House this past
Tuesday. It was great to see so many of our families and I was so happy the weather
cooperated with us this time. Every teacher I talked to mentioned they had full
classrooms and how happy they were to learn more about kids and families.
In addition to our Open House, Tuesday we had smoke coming from one of our
bathrooms. I would like to thank our staff and students for their wonderful and
calm behavior during our evacuation. Thank you to the University Fire Department
and the UAF fire department for both responding to our call. I was not in the
building when the smoke was discovered and so a special thank you goes out to the
office staff and especially Mrs. Brashear who is in charge of the building whenever I
am away. They did a great job recognizing the danger and taking the appropriate
steps to make sure everyone was safe.
Choir is starting!
