STEP-UP DAY
This week your student went to the middle school to see what all the fuss is about. We got to visit each of the teachers and get a feel for what life as a middle schooler might be like. Ask your student about their questions or concerns. Feel free to email us their questions too. (I asked a lot of them myself.) Mr. Fox assured us that if your student is feeling uneasy, they are able to walk around pretty much any Monday through Thursday that you might be around Tiffin during school hours. Most teachers are around the two weeks before school starts setting up classrooms and we were assured that they could pop in and talk or ask questions then too.
MAY BAND CONCERT Next WEEK
Dear 5th Grade Band Families,
Our final concert of the year will be held on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The M.S. Bands also perform that night but after we have finished and cleared out so once we are done, 5th families are free to go. The staggered start (5th band at 6:30pm and M.S. at 7:15pm) will free up parking and seating for both groups so it should be a fun night.
Keep your young musician practicing and playing as much as you can, the next month is still important even with all the ball games, track meets and dance recitals. Thanks for letting me work with your students this year- my “fun meter” is usually pretty high!

5th Grade Band Director
CELEBRATION is next week!
The Amana 5th grade staff will be hosting a celebration on Friday, May 20 from 5 - 7pm for the 5th grade students. From 5 - 6pm, we will be signing the bright green Amana t-shirts, playing games, and eating. From 6 - 7pm, the fifth grade will be swimming. If your child would like to swim from 7 - 9pm, the public swim charge is $2.50. Please be prompt in picking up your child at either 7pm or 9pm. THANKS!
Mr. Macumber and the 5th grade staff will provide pizza, games, and supervision.
Students need to bring their green T-shirts, swimsuits and towels (and $2.50 for the extra time if you allow your student to swim)
We are still in need of desserts, soda and chips if you are able to help supply. The sign-up genius is below.
SUMMER BIRTHDAYS
We love all the treats and celebrating we do for our students' birthdays, but sometimes it feels like our summer birthdays get short changed since it does not fall during the school year. The 4th and 5th grade teachers would like to honor the 4th and 5th grade birthdays by having an ice cream social. We will supply ice cream and would love for your student to supply a topping. Some examples might be: candy bar crushed, cut up fruit like strawberries or bananas, whipped cream, sprinkles, gummy treats, sauces like caramel or chocolate, maybe a can of coke or root beer if they do not like toppings.
We will have this celebration on Thursday, June 2nd to celebrate all summer birthdays!
