SI SE PUEDE “EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR”
Mr. Sasha Hunter, CHS Special Education Teacher and Varsity Soccer Coach, has been named a Si Se Puede Foundation’s “Educator of the Year.” The Si Se Puede Foundation is a prevention and advocacy organization that encourages its participants to be stakeholders in their community. The organization’s three main service components include educational programming, community activities & advocacy, and recreational activities for youth. Congrats on this well-deserved honor, Mr. Hunter!
DIVERSITY LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE AWARD
Congratulations to Adrian Chandler, CHS Junior, for being selected as the 2017 Diversity Leadership Alliance Youth Award Winner for 2017! The Diversity Leadership Alliance (DLA) “is the premier Diversity Education organization in Arizona. They provide thought-provoking diversity training, leadership guidance and continued support to help cultivate an inclusive community where each individual is valued and respected.” Adrian is the longest serving youth board member to the DLA.
MAYOR’S TEEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Michael De La Rosa and Caleb Dowdle were selected to be part of Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny’s 2018 Teen Leadership Academy. The students had the unique opportunity of working with city leaders to better their understanding of the challenges that confront local officials. Great job representing CHS, Michael and Caleb!
2017/18 SCHOLAR ATHLETE
Damion Maxwell, Chandler High School Senior, has been named a "Scholar Athlete of the Year" by the Phoenix Chapter of the National Alliance of African American Athletes. Damion is a football scholar who plans to play football at the collegiate level and earn a degree in business.

2018 NHS INDUCTION
Congratulations to the 280 new members of the Chandler High School Chapter of the National Honor Society! Since 1940, CHS has been inducting juniors and seniors who demonstrate strong academics, service, leadership, and character into this prestigious society.
CHANDLER’S GOT TALENT
Last week’s “Chandler’s Got Talent” was a huge success. Thank you to all of the great acts who performed. Congratulations to the 3rd place winners, twins Claire and Elise Owens, the 2nd place winner Samyra Goode, and our Grand Prize winner “Jazzy J” AKA Jasmine Rodriguez, who delivered an incredible performance and won a prize package worth over $300. Additional thanks to our three esteemed judges who provided great feedback and had the tough job of determining the winners.
LINK CREW TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP
On Friday, April 20th, the members of next year’s Link Crew had their first Training/ Leadership Day. They participated in team building activities and discussed their vision for next year. Link Crew is a club made up of juniors and seniors that run freshman orientation and welcome our incoming freshmen to CHS.

NHS BLOOD DRIVE
CHS’s National Honor Society hosted a blood drive last week and collected numerous pints of blood for United Blood Services. Thanks to the NHS Blood Drive Committee for organizing and working the event and to all the students and staff members who donated blood for a great cause.

DUAL ENROLLMENT TUITION ASSISTANCE
Do you plan on doing Dual Enrollment classes next school year and need help with the cost?
Applications for the Maricopa Grant are due by:
Priority Deadline: Thursday, May 31st
Final Deadline: Friday, August 31st
Don't miss the deadline and miss your chance to be awarded tuition for your dual enrollment classes! Funds are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis and eligibility is based on financial need. If you don't apply now and decide this fall to take a dual enrollment class, the funds may be gone.
There is no commitment to register for classes if your plans change in the fall, but applying now allows you to determine your eligibility and become pre-qualified for funding.
Students must apply now to receive tuition assistance for the dual classes they plan on taking in the 2018-2019 school year. Please refer to the Tuition Assistance link on our website for more information and access to a packet which includes: an informational cover sheet and application. Please be sure to follow the directions carefully as incomplete applications cannot be processed.

All college presentations will take place in the CHS College and Career Center, unless otherwise specified. Students should sign up outside the CHS College and Career Center to attend a presentation. Students will receive a pass in class on the day of the presentation.

Seniors, please keep track of ALL scholarships/offers you have received, even if you are attending a different school or using only one scholarship/offer. Please attach a copy of all scholarships/offer letters to the Scholarships Offered Form. You must star * the scholarship/offer you are accepting. Please turn in this form to Ms. Jaramillo in the College and Career Center ASAP.
