Santan Quarterly Report
Q3 2020
Keep Calm & Storm On!
Letter from the "Editor"... Mrs. Kowalinski
Dear Santan Parents & Students:
Welcome to 4th quarter! I wanted to share with the students and families at Santan Junior High that I am retiring this year after 40 wonderful years in education. It has been an incredible honor to be at Santan Junior High over the past 14 years. I have been very blessed with an awesome staff, intelligent and caring students, and a supportive community. Over the next few weeks, I will be introducing you to your 2020-21 new principal. Our district, teachers, parents and staff have been part of the interviewing process and I have the utmost confidence that someone wonderful will be selected. Thank you all for many, many great years at our wonderful school!
Please note that State Testing begins immediately upon our return from Spring break.
AzMERIT State testing begins March 30th and goes through April 1st. AIMS Testing for 8th Grade Science will be March 26th . We continue to work really, really hard to ensure the best education for your child. I simply cannot express the importance of your child being here everyday during the testing week! Please schedule (or reschedule) any appointments that interrupt the learning environment especially during the weeks of testing. Please know, if your child is taken out during of a test that is started, they will not be able to complete it. Our students are very excited about showing you all they have learned this year via the state tests. Thank you so much for all you do with this important school-home relationship.
TAX CREDIT - Santan Junior high received over $58,400 in tax credit donations this year. On behalf of the students, staff, and administration, thank you very, very much. Because of your generosity, students are afforded many wonderful opportunities to participate in clubs, sports, and extra-curricular activities. It is a wonderful way to support your school and get a great tax write off at the end of the year! For more information, visit our school web site and click onto “Tax Credit Form”.
BOOSTERS – our wonderful Boosters welcome new parents to join us the 2nd Tuesday of each month to help us plan our student events, fund raisers, and teacher support programs. Please join us on April 13th and May 11th in the Large Conference Room at 9:15 AM or email our Booster's president, Deb Georgvich at debrastirewalt@hotmail.com. This is a great way to show your support to our teachers, students and school!
We have so much to look forward to during 4th quarter! Look for dates coming home for our National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony, Student Council elections, Stormin' Scholars, 8th grade semi-formal dance, 4th quarter sports, and much, much more! Check out our website for the posting of dates and other important information.
Have a terrific 4th quarter to our Santan families!
Educationally yours,
BJ Kowalinski, Santan Jr. High Principal
