Technology News for Today's Classroom

News News News!!

The first nine weeks are behind us and we are in full swing with several new programs. Achieve 3000 is up and rolling in all our 3-5 classes as well as with our after school Parks and Rec program. TenMarks rolled out for all students and now we are ready to add Core Clicks to our resource toolbox. Every week brings more opportunities for me to work with students and meet with grade levels to plan and support technology integration within your classrooms. Thank you to those of you who have attended the technology PD's on Monday's and participating in the iGeneration Book study. There have been some great conversations.

At the beginning of November I started my new schedule! It has been great to be in each building every other day working with everyone and keeping the flow of technology going. I am at Kempsville Elementary every Tuesday and Thursday and Kempsville Meadows Elementary every Wednesday and Friday, alternating schools on Mondays. I am available to pull small groups in classrooms or in the Learning Labs for extra support. View my schedule here .

Hour of Code

The Week of December 7 - 13 is Computer Science in Education Week. The highlight of this celebration is the "Hour of Code". This event is held worldwide and currently there are over 72,074 schools participating. This year I would like to work with each grade level to do some basic coding. Coding is not just about programming, students learn how to look at things analytically and break down items into smaller pieces. Check out for more information.

MegaByte Mondays

MegaByte Mondays have begun! These informal 15-20 minute sessions introduce emerging technologies for your instruction. Each session is divided into 2 parts to accommodate busy schedules. The first half is direct instruction, the second half is hands on deeper learning. If you have a great tool you are using let me know and we can present to the group together! Monday, November 16th session is on Nearpod held at Kempsville Elementary in the Library. See you in the Library!

Integration Innovators

If you are interesting in joining a team of teachers to lead and support technology integration in our building, learn more about how to weave personalized learning and multiple pathways into your classroom join us to sound off and share ideas about how to better utilize technology in our building with the resources we have. Over the course of the year we will address hot topics, trends and develop strategies to better support our peers and students.
