What's New in Room 33
Mr. Woodworth's Class
The New 4th Grade Class at L.R. Green
If you haven't heard the news, L.R. Green hired a new 4th grade teacher to reduce class sizes in the 4th grade. The 4th graders from Mrs. Pew's 3/4 combo and 4 students from the other 4th grade classes will combine to make the new class. While its very hard to lose 4 students six weeks into the school year, I truly believe its best for the kids and for the school. Ms. Heather Shaffer will be the new 4th grade teacher and she comes highly recommended. Letters went home on Monday identifying the students who will be moved. If you did not receive a letter your child will stay in room 33 for the remainder of the year.
AR Points and Goals
Everyone is working hard to pass AR tests and earn AR points. Every student has a goal of averaging 85% on tests. Each student also has an individual point goal based on their reading level. As of 9-23-14, these students have the highest percentage of their point goal: Shane, Jordyn, Roxy, Anissa, Rosie, Coen, Maquena, and Chris. Great job!!!!
30 minutes of Math Homework...
I talked to the class today about math homework. I know some of the topics are challenging and the homework can take quite a bit of time to complete. If your child works for about 30 minutes on their homework and they are unable to complete it, please sign it for me and I will know that they attempted to finish it. The photo shows an example of this.
Bike Club
Last Friday, 30 students and six adults hit the road for the first bike ride of the year. We rode through Kit Carson Park and on the San Dieguito trails. Our next ride will be on October 10th from 3pm until 5pm. If you and/or your child would like to join us, please let me know. Permission slips are in my room.
My School Portraits
On Wednesday I will be sending home the proofs for your child's school pictures. Directions on how to order pictures are printed on the bottom of the proof.
Progress Reports
I will be sending six week progress reports home this friday. I will continue to highlight missing assignments so that you can see which assignments have not been turned in. I will also have a report attached that shows your child's score on the district writing assessment and on the Module 1 math test. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Scholastic Book Orders
If you would like to order books for you child, the due date is October 3. You can order online or you can send the form in with a check. All books will be delivered at the same time.
