Good Afternoon WoodCreek Family!
First and foremost, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! Thank you for all that you do to support our students and staff. I sincerely hope everyone has an amazing Mother’s Day.
Secondly, STAAR Testing continues this week. Please see the important information below for details about each testing day.
There is also information in this week's edition about our 8th Grade Celebration, the 8th Grade Clap-Out, Book Fair, Summer Athletics, and more! Please be sure to check out the entire newsletter.
Lastly, thank you all who took the time to show our teachers and staff their appreciation this week for the hard work they've done this year. Our teachers enjoyed every second of it! WoodCreek Junior High School has some of the best teachers anywhere and our community knows it.

Checking Out Students After Testing
If you will not be picking up your KVA student, they will stay on campus in our computer lab until the final bell.
Please note that this only applies to KVA students. Face-to-face learners will resume their normal on-campus class schedule after the testing window closes. If your student is a face-to-face student, checking them out after testing for reasons other than illness or an appointment will result in an unexcused absence.
No Tutorials During STAAR Testing
Any students who are dropped before school will need to wait at the front of the school for the doors to open at 8:30 am.

SPRING BOOK FAIR - ON CAMPUS and ONLINE
WCJH Library is excited to host our second Scholastic Book Fair for the 2020-2021 school year. The students will come to LGI to shop our book fair starting Monday, May 17th to Friday, May 21st. 8TH GRADE CLAP OUT
8TH GRADE CELEBRATION
The 8th Grade Celebration will be held Friday, May 21 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the COURTYARD of WCJH (not the parking lot as originally planned).
TO SIGN UP:
- Read the Information Packet. Click HERE to access the packet.
- Submit the permission slip via google forms. Click HERE to access the permission slip.
- Pay the admission fee. Please send cash or send checks for $15 made payable to "WCJH PTA" in a sealed envelope with "8th Grade Celebration" and your child's name on it. Your child can drop this envelope off at the front desk.
- "Then and Now" Slideshow. Please submit 1 baby picture and 1 current picture to babyphotosWCJH@gmail.com with your child's full name. Due no later than May 10th.
Forms and payment will be accepted until May 20th. All of this information can also be accessed through the QR codes in the image above.

SECONDARY KATY SUMMER ACADEMIC TERM (KSAT)
Secondary High School Credit Recovery & Junior High Course Recovery summer registration opened on Monday, April 12. KSAT for credit and course recovery are scheduled from June 7 – July 1, Monday – Thursday.
Beginning April 12, parents may register and elect to take the summer recovery courses virtually with in-person teacher support and remediation. At the time of registration, a student will be prompted to select one of the following in person lab days/times for in person teacher support:
- Monday and Wednesday 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Monday and Wednesday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Summer Study Skills Sessions
Back by popular demand: Tompkins High School will be offering our study skills sessions this summer to incoming freshmen and sophomores. These study skills sessions will help prepare incoming freshmen for the academic challenges of high school. It will also help students prepare for upper-level coursework. Students will also be given a tour of the school.
Freshman/Sophomore Study Skills Camp:
July 12th-15th
Morning session: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Afternoon session: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Face to Face Student Health Protocols
All students should complete a daily self-screening for symptoms prior to arriving to school or boarding a school bus.
- All students are provided daily guidance on proper hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette and social distancing.
- All students are required to wear a facial covering upon arrival to school and dismissal, when riding a bus, in hallways, common areas and in classrooms.
- All facial coverings should cover the nose and mouth.
- All students must be up to date with state require immunization compliance.
- All students are provided sanitizing wipes to clean work space before classroom instruction begins.
- All students are encouraged to use hand sanitizer before classroom instruction begins and ends.
- All students are seated with as much separation as feasible during the instructional day.
The PTA plays a vital role in our school - by sponsoring many of our important and fun activities and by supporting our teachers, staff, and students! Even in the midst of the changes we have this year on campus, we rely on our PTA for many things.
