Are you a sophomore who wants to learn a skill or trade you can use after you graduate high school? Do you want to be more marketable to employers and/or college recruiters? Now is the time to start thinking about your plans for the future. Current sophomores can apply for the career and technical programs offered in Prince George's County Public Schools. Students applying for a two-year CTE program must have at least a 2.0 GPA and a grade of a “C” or higher in Algebra and/or Biology. If the number of applicants who meet the requirements is greater than the number of seats available, seats are assigned by lottery.
The following programs are offered in this county: electrical, carpentry, HVAC, masonry, plumbing, barbering, cosmetology, culinary arts, printed, nursing, CISCO (IT), fire cadet, autobody repair, and automotive technician. Some programs require you to transfer to another high school to complete the program while others, such as cosmetology, nursing, CISCO (IT), and automotive technician are offered right here at Laurel High School. Autobody Repair is in the process of making its way to Laurel High School next school year.
If you're interested in any of these programs, please be sure to submit your application at: cte-application.pgcps.org by March 12, 2019. Applications must be completed on the PGCPS server/network.
