Mountain Lion Minute
Montgomery Elementary Headlines
Mountain Lion Families,
We made it through the first week of virtual learning. I know this week has brought it's fair share of challenges, particularly with technology and trying to navigate this new way of teaching and learning. I want to extend a sincere "Thank you!" for all that you've done and are doing in your homes. I certainly know that this is no easy task. I also want to commend my staff for their dedication to our students. We will continue to work hard toward making virtual learning as engaging and meaningful as possible. My hope is that you found some success or positives as well. I enjoyed visiting many of our virtual classrooms this week to say hello to our students. It was refreshing to see their smiling faces!
Back to School Night
Back to School Night will take place this coming Wednesday, September 9th. This will be a virtual event and will be held 6:30- 7:50pm. I will share a link to my opening remarks, along with a message from Montgomery's Home and School Association. You child's teacher(s) will be sharing links to their live sessions. Each teacher will hold two 30 minute sessions, with the first session starting at 6:45pm. The second session will begin at 7:20pm.
Student Material Distribution
We have now been given the green light to distribute materials as the remaining items are due to arrive by the end of this coming week/ beginning of the week of September 14th. Montgomery's distribution date will be Thursday, September 17th. More details to follow in the coming days.

The Counselor's Corner
Welcome Back Montgomery Families ,
Although this year is beginning with virtual learning, and we are not together in the building , I am excited to be starting my 31st school year with you. We will have our challenges, but please know that I am here to support you anyway I can.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s/children’s mental health as we navigate this year together . There are behaviors that are to be expected. During this time period feelings and actions may be bigger than they were before and more frequent . There may be interruptions to typical routines and reactions to situations that typically didn’t present as an issue .
Attached please find a Virtual Back to School Checklist with ideas to help your family with some issues you may face, and a story to share with your child/children at your discretion. The story is about how things right now may not be or feel “normal “ and what we can do .
Please remember that I am a phone call or email away . I will be seeing the children through their classrooms during lunch groups, lessons, and at any time they request a visit.
