Student Holiday (October 12th)

Just a reminder that Monday, October 12th is a student holiday and teacher workday.

End of Quarter 1

The end of the first quarter is Friday, October 9th. Grades will close out on Friday and progress reports are scheduled to go home 1-2 weeks after. Quarter 2 begins on Tuesday, October 13th and will go through Friday, December 18th. Be sure to be checking the parent portal frequently to stay up-to-date on your child's progress.

ITBS Testing

October 19th through the 23rd will be ITBS testing for 5th grade. Please make every effort to have your child at school everyday and on time. Testing begins first thing in the morning and it is important that they arrive on time. Otherwise, they will have to make-up the test during a make-up session. Please see the attached letter from PMES Administration for other details.

Upcoming and Continuing Units of Study

We are continuing to explore non-fiction text. We will continue to study nonfiction text annotations and reading through various lenses.

We have finished persuasive writing and are moving into informational writing.

Word Study

Our word study list went home earlier this week and the test will be on Wednesday (they can always find list on eclass.)

We are continuing our unit on decimals with multiplying and dividing decimals. A new link for the decimal units Math Resource Round-Up was sent out and is also linked below. Remember this is a living document and updates as we move through the unit. The test was moved to the following week and is now tentatively planned towards the beginning of the week of October 19th. A study guide will be given out closer to the test date.

Science/Social Studies

We will be continuing with the second half of our Reconstruction after the Civil War unit. The reconstruction test will be in quarter 2. This unit begins in Quarter 1 and is revisited in Quarter 2. Your teacher may have already assigned the Quizlet for the Reconstruction unit. You can also use the link below.
