One of the most important parts in the story is when, the pilot has a heart attack and Brian has to crash land the airplane he is in. He ends up successfully crash landing it into an L shaped lake. This is important because it pretty much starts the book off. This is also important because he needs the airplane for something later in the book. Nothing else could've happened if it wasn't for the crash landing.
The book starts off as Brian is flying in a single engine plane. his pilot then suffers from a major heart attack and dies. Brian then manages to crash land the plane into an L shaped lake. Then he must survive forever or until help arrives. He encounters many

dangerous things along the way such as moose or wolfs.
