The Walden Weekly

School News You Can Use - May. 12, 2023

Dear Walden Families,

We had a great week at Walden School celebrating our amazing teachers throughout teacher appreciation week. The PTO went above and beyond making this week SO incredibly special for our staff. Thank you to our teachers for all you do each and everyday for our kids at Walden. Our school wouldn't be the same without you!

We hope to see all of our Walden families tonight at STEAM night here at Walden from 6:00-7:30!

Happy Mother's Day to all of our Walden mommies! Enjoy your special day this weekend!

Thank you and we'll see you back on Monday!

Band and Orchestra Virtual Open House for 3rd Grade Families

Hello, 3rd grade families!

Over the past few weeks, your child has had the opportunity to learn all about an exciting opportunity available to them in 4th grade - joining our band and orchestra family! They have seen performances from our middle school band and orchestra ensembles and met with instrumental music staff and student ambassadors to hear and learn about each instrument available for them to try out and select this spring. We encourage all families to talk about this opportunity with their third grader and to check out our instrumental music website to learn more about each instrument and watch past performances of our programs.

Additionally, all third grade families are invited to attend our virtual instrumental music open house on Monday, May 15th at 6:30 PM. During the webinar, we will discuss all facets of the band and orchestra program (which your child will register for this May), and there will also be time for us to answer many of the questions you have. Your child is welcome to attend the webinar as well, as we will have a number of performances by members of the middle school band and orchestra.

Please save this Zoom link to access the webinar! If you are unable to attend, the webinar will be recorded and made available for viewing the following day. Please direct any questions you may have to eim@dps109.org and one of our directors will be in touch.

We hope to see you there!

School Supplies On Sale Now! (2nd Posting)

Supply kits for next school year, 2023-2024, are now available to purchase! The sale runs from Friday, May 5th until Friday May, 19th. After that window, you will NOT be able to order a kit. Don't miss out on the chance to buy all the supplies your Walden student(s) will need in one
easy transaction!
To purchase your supply kit, please go to the "FOR SALE" section on the Walden PTO app or the Walden PTO website. If your child is an incoming Kindergartener, you must either create a PTO account or add their name to your existing PTO account. All kits will be delivered to Walden and be waiting in your child's classroom on the first day of school. This is the preferred choice by the teachers - so they can label and organize all of your child's belongings before school begins. Don’t forget to order for the grade(s) your child(ren) will be in
next fall.

If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Roseman & Carly Sear
at waldenwildcatssupplies@gmail.com.

Save the Date! Field day is Friday June 2! (2nd Posting)

We are looking for some active parent volunteers to help run our Field Day stations! Please fill out this form if you are available and would like to be considered to help make our Field Day amazing for all our kids!

* Volunteers must come alone and leave any non-Walden kids at home *

Field Day Safety:

Field Day is a whole school event for our kids! Please remember on this day parent volunteers must check in with the office upon arrival with their state issued ID. If you are not a parent volunteer and have not checked in with the office please stay off of school grounds as keeping our kids safe is our number one priority!

Anyone on school property without signing in will be asked to leave.

Thank you in advance for making this a safe and fun day for our kids!
