Fourth Grade News
Mrs. Spencer's Class - Introductory Newsletter
I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas, graduating with a double major in Elementary Education and English. I spent time as a student teacher in Chaska and a substitute teacher in Chaska, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie before returning to my hometown of Rochester. Prior to teaching at KMES, I taught fourth grade in Rochester and completed my Master's degree through Winona State University. This is my fifth year of teaching at KMES, and I am anxious to begin this year with a terrific group!
Please see the "Welcome to a New Year" attachment for further information from me. You will receive a hard copy of this information next week.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this a phenomenal year of learning!
During your child's session, I will be conducting 1:1 Fountas & Pinnell reading testing/leveling with your child. During this time, you can fill out the fall forms (I will have a folder of these forms set for each child. Many of them are available online if you prefer to type and print - please see below for link. There will be a couple of additional classroom/grade level forms to fill out while at school).
You will also need to ensure that you allow for extra time during your visit to school beyond the block of time scheduled with me. Students will be asked to complete AIMS Web testing in the fourth grade pod. You can also visit the gym to take care of any transportation questions, lunch money, etc. You will receive a full checklist of items to accomplish while at school as you enter on the 9th or 10th.
Students may bring and stow backpacks/supplies in the classroom, but we will likely wait and sort through supplies on the first day of school.
