Writer's Block/Reader's Block
You'd think it would be pretty easy to crank out a few paragraphs about the library and our goings on. I'm here a lot and usually thinking about it when I'm anywhere else. I am constantly writing notes to myself about things that need to be taken care of or ideas to run by other staff members. I can be really boring at parties when I get started on all that we're doing and all that we're planning to do, the big issues and small daily dilemmas of library work and, of course, the books.
Normally, I can root around in all this and find a hook to hang an opening sentence on. And then away we go. I just need to keep reminding myself that, although I get to read a lot of great writing, nobody expects that I will deliver it. Just something amusing. Bonus points for being informative. And if I find some links to videos to spice things up, well that's just icing on the cake. Keeping the bar fairly low usually lets me enjoy the task and avoid literary paralysis.
Not today. Today, I can't make two thoughts stick together. I have started down three different paths and run into walls on all of them. The deadline for publishing has come and gone and I got nothin'. So . . . you get nothin'. Sorry. I promise to do better next time.
Fortunately, there are much better options available from the library if you need something good to read. In the meantime, take a look at all the great stuff we have going on this coming month, mark your calendars and come on down. We'll be happy to see you.
