Beginning of the Year Q12 Data
Mrs. Springer and I want you to like working at Savannah, understand the value you bring to our team and realize how you can contribute daily to reach our shared goals. We seek to create a true data-driven learning community that uses data to produce high level of student achievement. Because of this, we are constantly talking numbers, seeking data and reflecting on our practice as leaders. We value data and believe it always tells us what to do. In addition to ISIP, CFAs, Imagine Math, report cards, STAAR and other academic data sources, it is important for us to collect nonacademic information.
A few weeks ago, I asked each of you to participate in the Gallup Q12 Staff Engagement Survey. The Q12 is an instrument used to measure employee engagement. It consists of twelve actionable workplace characteristics that have been linked to performance outcomes and productivity. It has been used in corporate America and schools since the 90s and has been administered to more than 25 million employees in 195 countries in 70 languages. This tool has intense research behind it.
Below and above, you will find the results of our beginning of the year data. When we compare where the staff was this time last year we are encouraged, but we can also identify areas of needed growth as we work toward the MOY survey.
Please know we take these instruments seriously and we are working to move this data just as hard as we work to move kids.

Meet Gerald McTyre
Hello, my name is Gerald McTyre. You may occasionally see me wondering the halls at Savannah Elementary. I am the Unit Director of Custodial Staff. As a support service of education, our goal is to provide the best service possible to Denton ISD. Be sure and thank your custodial staff for their dedication and hard work that makes our school look great. They deserve all the credit.
Allow me to share with you a few things my team and I are focusing on this month.
Flu season is here!! My crew will be paying close attention to all high touch items (i.e. door knobs, light switches, desks). Please keep me updated on which classes have low attendance. We will use a strong disinfected cleaner in those areas.
Monthly Training
Our topic for this month for training is Slip/Trip Hazards. Knowing your surroundings is very important. Staying pro-active to watch out for things that will cause you to slip or trip.
- Trash and Debris
- Spills
- Threshold strips
Finally, in addition to our daily cleaning we will also be working on lights, ceiling tiles, entrances (inside and out), and carpet cleaning.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. When you have an issue in your classroom, please make sure you write it in the custodian book located at the receptionist desk.
