FDLRS/East is offering a new professional development opportunity for teachers on the implementation of accommodations, based on the FLDOE’s 2018 Accommodations manual.

Bringing Accommodations to Life in the Classroom is an 8.5-hour credit course. Participants will learn about specific accommodations for students with disabilities based on learning, behavioral, social, emotional, and independent functioning needs. They will also learn how to select, use and evaluate the effectiveness of accommodations to ensure the accommodation matches student needs and can be effectively integrated into instruction. This course will be offered synchronously, through a virtual format and meet the requirement for SWD in-service credit. This opportunity is appropriate for both general education and ESE teachers as an initial Accommodations training or as a supplement to previous training. A follow-up implementation activity, including uploading data to the FDLRS Implementation Database, is required in order to earn course credit. (ProGOE Section# 408840-April 1, 2021 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.-Virtual)

Integrating Accommodations a 3-hour credit course, will focus on technology tools to support accommodations in both brick and mortar as well as eLearning environments. This course will be offered synchronously through a virtual format and meet the requirement for SWD in-service credit. This opportunity is appropriate as an initial Accommodations training for General Education teachers or as a supplement to previous training for ESE teachers. A follow-up implementation activity, including uploading data to the FDLRS Implementation Database, is required in order to earn course credit. (ProGOE Section# 408841-April 2, 2021, 2:00-3:30 p.m. Virtual)

If you have questions, or need additional information, please contact Renée Smith at

If the courses above don't work with your schedule, there are still more ways to earn those SWD credits.

  1. We have a wonderful BPS online course called "Creating a Trauma Sensitive Classroom". This is a 20 credit course, taught through Blackboard Ultra, and instructed by our very own Janean Knight. The ProGOE course# is 17084. The next course is set to begin on March 8, 2021, so make sure to get registered. Registration for this course is currently open, but will close March 22, 2021.
  2. Through the BEESS Portal teachers can access courses through Professional Development Alternatives or PDA. There are both facilitated and non facilitated courses that can be taken to provide the required SWD points. This site is rich with PD offerings. There are several facilitated courses starting in January

ELA Professional Development

Title 1 has created a series of trainings focused on improving learning strategies and practices during the ELA block. These trainings are for teachers and literacy coaches assigned to Title 1 schools. Please click the Title 1 training link for more information on these targeted ELA trainings.

Certificate Renewals before April 1, 2021

Our teachers are working hard to make sure they have all of their in-service credits completed and they are ready to apply for their renewals prior to the reappointment deadline. If you are an ESF trainer or an Principal/Assistant Principal, and have provided instructional training recently, please make sure to get inservice points placed into ProGOE as soon as possible. Some of our teachers may be waiting for their renewal based on inservice credits from your training.

In addition, school site inservice representatives should double check to make sure all pre-planning credits have been given.

Anyone who took PD outside of BPS first semester, would need to submit their requests for inservice credit to our office via ProGOE. Please forward these instructions to your teachers. This provides step by step directions for completing their request to receive in service credits for attending an outside conference or workshop.

Who Can I Call for ProGOE Issues?

ProGOE is a multi tiered system used for tracking of professional development, registration of PD, and evaluation. Question pertaining to PD records, school in-service proposals, transcripts, etc. would be answered in Professional Learning and Development. Itzel Copley or Lynnette Thorstensen would be your resources.

If you have questions about evaluation plans, those would go to Shannon Alvarez. She works in Human Resources as an Information System Analyst. She monitors all of the plans for the district and works with schools to make sure evaluations are being done correctly.

For any issues with signing into ProGOE you would call the BPS Help Desk
