Weekly Family Newsletter
Burns Park Elementary
PTO 2023-2024 Executive Board nominations are open now until Monday, May 1, see details below.

April 23, 2023
Dear Burns Park Families,
We hope everyone that celebrates Eid had a wonderful day of family, food and a great holiday.
Our Burns Park Ice Cream Social is right around the corner! Please save the date for Friday, May 19th. We hope to see you there!
Reminders from Last Week:
Please remember during the school day, families/students from other schools/community members should not be utilizing Burns Park for playground purposes. All visitors on school grounds MUST be checked in at the office.
As we head into warmer weather, it is important that your student has a water bottle each and every day. We are moving away from plastic cups in our building to help eliminate the environmental impact and trash accumulation in our school. We want students to stay healthy and hydrated during outdoor play.
It is almost that time of year for the the Burns Park Run! The Burns Park Run is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th, 2023, starting at 8:30 AM and volunteers to support this wonderful event are still needed! We would love your help - if you are interested in volunteering, please check out the volunteer opportunities here. To sign up for the race, click here.
Love and Peace,
Heather & Leslee

From the PTO
Dear Fantastic BPE Families,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful week. Thank you to those who were able to join this past week’s PTO meeting. Nominations are now open for next year’s executive board (details below). This year’s BPE t-shirt opt-in window is open now as well and details are also below.
Nominations Open for 2023-2024 BPE PTO Executive Board
The PTO IS its volunteer, whether you have been at BPE for 1 year or 10 years, if you are able to volunteer your time for the community, please raise your hand, even if its just to ask questions.
All the events the PTO has already organized/supported (Popsicles in the Park, Fall Picnic, Field Trips, Classroom Volunteers, Walk & Talk, Teacher Appreciation, Science Olympiad, March is Reading Month, etc.) and is planning for the years end (Disability Awareness Workshop, Burns Park Run, Ice Cream Social, Field Day, 5th Grade Capstone, Yearbook) depend on volunteers.
Nominations (self or otherwise) are open by emailing nominatingcommittee@bpepto.org by Monday, May 1 for all 2023-2024 Executive Board Positions listed below
President: Lead the organization and preside over all meetings.
President- Elect: Support President and traditionally assume that role the following year.
Secretary: Keep and maintain organization records.
Treasurer: Maintain budget and track funds in and out of the organization.
Fundraising Coordinator: Oversee fundraising and community outreach.
Volunteer Coordinator: Organize classroom and committee volunteers.
Technology Coordinators: Oversee website and support technology needs of organization
At-Large Members (Max 10): Attend all monthly PTO meetings and chair 1 committee.
A listing of who has served in each position this year is on the PTO website, along with a longer job description in the PTO Bylaws. If you are interested in a position and would like more information, please email info@bpepto.org. Nominations will close by Monday, May 1 so that an officer slate can be presented to the community ahead of the last PTO meeting on May 10.
BPE T-Shirts
This year the PTO is providing t-shirts to all new children by default and to all existing children by an opt-in process to avoid automatically giving out t-shirts to families that may not be interested. If you are a new family to BPE in the 2022-2023, you do not need to do anything to get a t-shirt. If you are an existing family at BPE and would like a t-shirt, please opt-in using the linked google form by Wednesday, May 3.
