Distance Learning Plan
This week kicks off our Distance Learning 2.0! We are so excited to increase our scholar engagement and enrichment for the rest of May while we are not back on campus. During grade level meetings you shared some ideas you planned to put into practice this week based on what we shared during the PD. I cannot wait to see the surprises you have in store for our scholars. The K-2 Distance Learning 2.0 presentation can be found (here) if you need it and also linked in our documents section.
Deans of Academics
Wow! We continue to be so impressed by y’all and thankful that we get to work alongside such an amazing team! From seeing Kelley posting about a virtual field trip contest and Nicole offering to get pied in the face by Laursen to Allie creating a virtual book club for the Washington Huskies and Martinez figuring out a way to have a pancake contest via FaceTime, we are amazed by every single teacher’s creativity and ingenuity during this crazy time.

Masked Singer Snippet
Dean of SEL
This week we will focus on our last mindfulness lesson of the month. The SEL lesson is about compassion and positive self-talk. Scholars are asked to watch the posted video and then respond by commenting with a positive self-talk phrase or thought. You may even want to ask about this in your morning meetings, etc.
Habit of the Month
Put First Things First: prioritize work, then play afterward. This habit is important in light of our current academic situation, and can help our scholars understand that even though there is more free time, they should still be prioritizing completing work and growing their brains! This can also apply to prioritizing sleep, proper eating, and exercise.

SCHOLARS OF THE WEEK...
Kinder - Marcell Sebree (Eckerd)
Eckerd College would like to recognize our “Scholar of the Week” as Marcell Sebree. Marcell is showing growth by verbally communicating his needs and feelings. He “Puts First Things First” by completing his work and school activities before playing with his cousins. He demonstrates LEADERSHIP at home by playing nicely with others, being responsible with chores, and completing school work. Marcell most of all exemplifies “GRIT”. When he is tired, he pushes through with counting and letter sounds to grow his brain! Way to Triton!
1st Grade - Ja'Niah Evan (Texas)
Ja'Niah Evan is the scholar of the week for Texas! She has been working SO incredibly hard with distance learning by showing the core value of ACHIEVEMENT ! She has been completing assignments on time and her work has been detailed and thoughtful. She has also been having fun and supporting her teammates on our zoom calls! We are SO proud of her hard work!
2nd Grade - Greyson Hawkins and Carter Brooks (Auburn)
Auburn scholars of the week are Greyson Hawkins and Carter Brooks. These two young men have been absolutely rocking distant learning. They are consistently turning their work in on time or even early and have been continuing to grow their brains at home. They are definitely putting first things first and have been showing the core value of ACHIEVEMENT! We have loved seeing them hop on our fun and academic zoom times and know that they are so third grade ready! We are so proud of how much effort they have been showing at home and know that they will keep it up! Way to go boys!
