Reminder: MMS tardy policy -- help your Red Imp get to school on time!
1st Tardy- Verbal warning from Teacher and document minor in Ed Handbook
2nd Tardy - Verbal warning from Teacher and document minor in Ed Handbook
3rd Tardy- Teacher-Student Conference with Teacher call to parent
4th Tardy- Lunch Detention with Teacher call to parent
5th Tardy and Beyond- Office Referral
(Tardies to class reset to zero at the beginning of each quarter.)
Students tardy to school, since they are late to class, will be subject to this tardy policy also. After 7:55am, student tardies will be logged and parents will be contacted for warnings. Parents will be notified by Ms. Joy Miller, behavior interventionist, via Parent Square message when their child is late to school. Consequences will likely follow after the fact.
* Note: bus-riders on late buses are exempt from these consequences; that tardiness is an MGSD issue. If you need a bus route set up for your student, please click here to get more info about the MGSD Transportation department.
** Note #2: please use mature etiquette in the car-rider line -- we've seen a recent uptick in parents switching lanes suddenly and opening car doors into traffic. We need to keep everybody safe so please respect your fellow Red Imp drivers.
Parents: please be mindful of our 7:55am start time and help our Red Imps get to school on time each day so we can take advantage of every moment for learning!
Progress Reports will be sent home on Friday, December 1st
Food Drive, sponsored by MMS Student Government
The Student Government will be holding a Food Drive October 30 - November 30 to help replenish the Christian Mission Food Pantry supply. Donations should be brought to student’s period 1 class and will be collected weekly by our Student Government. Please help the residents of our community!
Items needed include nonperishable items such as:
Peanut Butter, Condiments, Tuna Fish, Lunchbox Items, Canned meat, Macaroni & cheese, Pasta, Raisins, etc.
The winning core 1 class with the most donations will receive an ice cream celebration sponosored by the Student Government. Please see Ms. Durham (Room 222) with any questions. Thank you for your help & support! We couldn’t do this without you!
Friday, December 1st is an MMS spirit day!
On Friday, December 1st, our MMS spirit theme is... National Peppermint Bark Day?! Yep, that's what it is.
Wear red and white to a) look like a candy cane (?), and b) show your Red Imp spirit by wearing school colors!
Student-Led Toy Drive
Starting next Monday, November 20th, through December 19th, MMS is holding a student-led toy drive by having students bring in new/unused toys to their period 1 class. On Tuesday and Thursdays, select WEB leaders will come and count and collect them from period 1 classes. Parents, please help support this awesome cause so MMS students can donate toys to children in need this holiday season.
The period 1 class with the most toy donations in each grade will get an ice cream treat, while the overall period 1 champion class will get a pizza party. Thank you for helping children in need this holiday season, Red Imps!
6th Grade Butter Braid fundraiser
Don't know any 6th graders but would like to purchase ButterBraids? You can purchase from this link and any profit will be applied as scholarships for students to attend the field trip. Thank you for your support!
Trees & garland request - MMS event planning club
Parents: the MMS event planning club is already in the holiday spirit! We are in need of some used artificial pine garlands and Christmas trees. If you have an old tree that you no longer need, please consider donating it to our club. We can use trees from 2 ft. to 10 ft. -- no tree is too large or too small. We can use pre-lit trees or trees with no lights, we plan to cut up some branches for greenery. Please contact Ms. Hamilton (social studies 7 teacher) if you have any questions. Thanks for considering!
PTSO-sponsored Teacher Appreciation Lunch (11/20/23)
The PTSO Teacher Appreciation Lunch is scheduled for next Monday, November 20th. The theme is "italian feast." Please use the below link to sign up to help!

Thanks so much for your support of MMS teachers around the holidays!

** Only the first 24 boys and 24 girls will be able to attend this trip. First payment is due by Friday, November 3rd or your seat may be vacated.

How to alert MMS of a student absence:
The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is: MMSAttendance@MGSD.k12.nc.us
Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. We hope this process will be easier on everyone instead of sending a note with the student that can get lost easily!
