ALL-COUNTY BAND AUDITION REGISTRATION DEADLINE - OCTOBER 15
A reminder that the registration deadline for an All-County Band audition (concert and jazz) is tomorrow, Monday, October 15. Information regarding the registration process can be found on the website at www.winterparkhsband.com/honor-bands. All Winter Park Band students are strongly encouraged to prepare an All-County audition, and it is required for all Wind Symphony members.
AWAY FOOTBALL GAME - OCTOBER 19
The Marching Band will be traveling to Boone High School for our performance on Friday, October 19. For this game, the Marching Band will not perform a halftime show. The reason for this is the WPHS Performing Arts Department's presentation of "Crazy For You," also taking place that night, with a significant number of Band students performing in the pit orchestra. See the itinerary below.
BUTTER BRAID PASTRY FUNDRAISER - SALE ENDS ON FRIDAY
We started our annual Butter Braid sale this past Monday. Students and parents will be able to take orders through this coming Friday when all order forms are due. The delivery of the frozen pastries will take place on Wednesday, November 14 (between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM) - just in time for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas! This will be our last major fundraiser of the school year (other than the Door-2-Door event in February).
MARCHING BAND UNIFORM CLEANING - OCTOBER 23
With Marching MPA right around the corner, it’s time to clean all of our Marching Band uniforms, and we need a lot of volunteers. Please stop by the Band Room on Tuesday, October 23 and pick up a set of 10 or 20 uniforms. For every ten uniforms cleaned and returned, your student's account will receive a credit of $5.00. Mary Bernard will provide the directions, pods, softener sheets, and student information sheets for this to make it as easy as possible. With Senior Night on November 2, we will need all uniforms returned on Tuesday October 30 during or after Marching Band rehearsal.
FALL ORCHESTRA CONCERT - OCTOBER 29
Due to the double-booking the Auditorium on top of the Fall Orchestra Concert, originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, it has now been moved to Monday, October 29 at 7:00 PM.
TRUNK R' TREAT - OCTOBER 30
The Marching Band's annual "Trunk R' Treat" will be held after rehearsal on Tuesday, October 30 at 5:00 PM in D-Lot. Students are able to wear costumes to the rehearsal (rehearsal-appropriate), and parents are encouraged to line-up their cars, decorate your car trunks, and pass out candy after rehearsal. More information to come!
"SENIOR NIGHT" FOOTBALL GAME - NOVEMBER 2
The final regular home football game of the season on Friday, November 2 is also "Senior Night." As in the past, all of our Sound of the Wildcats seniors and their parents will be recognized during the game. Unlike in the past, however, plans are underway to have this recognition happen during pregame - alongside the football team and cheerleader seniors. More information to come in the very near future, but please mark your calendars now!
MARCHING BAND MPA - NOVEMBER 3
The Marching Band will be performing at Marching MPA on Saturday, November 3. MPA is hosted at University High School, and the Marching Band's performance time is 4:30 PM. There will be a rehearsal at the school before departing for University HS. Look for an itinerary in the next few days.
POTENTIAL PLAY-OFF GAME
It is looking more and more likely that the Marching Band will have at least one play-off football game added to the schedule - Friday, November 9. There is no way to determine yet if this will be a home or away game, but please add this to your calendars. If you have a pre-existing conflict with that evening, please e-mail both Mr. Blackmer and Mr. Clemente this week.

Auditions for the 2019 OCPS All-County Band are on Monday, November 12. Click HERE to register for an audition. The registration deadline is Monday, October 16!
SOLO & ENSEMBLE REGISTRATION
Registration for Solo & Ensemble MPA is now up and available through the Band website. It is never too early to begin forming ensembles and selecting music for S&E MPA. Also, if you are going to prepare a solo for S&E MPA, be sure to lock-down your accompanist immediately! The deadline for S&E MPA registration is Friday, November 9 at 2:30 PM. Also, if you want the Band Program to purchase music for your event, those orders are due no later than Monday, December 3 at 2:30 PM.
Please make sure that we are paying Band Fees in a timely manner! If you have financial constraints that are preventing you from making your Band fee schedule, please contact Mr. Blackmer directly so that arrangements and/or a payment plan can be made. In addition to this, make sure that you are actively participating in our fundraisers. These are specifically created to alleviate our fees, but you need to take advantage of them! If you have questions regarding which fees are due and when, please go to our website for the Financial Obligations PDFs.
