ALAMO EDUCATION FUND

Dear Alamo School Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! The Alamo School Education Fund is looking forward to an exciting year, full of in-person opportunities for all students. We are a volunteer organization run entirely by parents along with the principal and teacher representative who work together to fund special programs and staff on campus. We are an affiliate of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and a 503c non-profit. We work to enrich the education of all Alamo School students with music, art, technology, three paraeducators, two reading intervention specialists and our Rainbow Room socio-emotional learning. If you would like to be involved in your child’s educational experience, join us!

The Ed Fund was established to bridge the gap between public funding and the funding necessary to provide all of the resources and activities that we have at Alamo. We hope you assist us this year in reaching our fundraising goal of $278,000 to preserve what makes Alamo special. Thank you for your support of the Ed Fund and our mission.

What is the Annual Giving Campaign?

Alamo Elementary School, like many other schools in the area, receives very little money from the district, state, and federal government. In order to provide high-quality programs and enrichment opportunities this year, we are beginning our Annual Giving Campaign at registration. Once available, our online registration page (Future Fund) will have lots of helpful information and videos, so please read through it carefully. For the 2021-2022 school year, we are asking for a donation of $650 per student to help us cover the costs of these valuable programs.

Does your employer match?

Corporate match is an easy way to double (or triple!) your donation. You can increase the impact of your donation with a matching gift from your company. Many companies will match your tax-deductible donations, dollar for dollar. Please see this website to see if your employer will match your donation.

During the registration process, we will ask for your employer. This is only so we can research if your company matches. We will have volunteers at walk-through registration to answer questions about this program and how it works. Future Fund will email you a PDF receipt for you to submit to your employer. We cannot submit the request on your behalf.

How else does the Ed Fund fundraise during the year?

The Ed Fund will continue to fundraise throughout the year with Square1 art, Amazon Smile and Teacher Treats as well as restaurant giveback nights, ThinkWorks enrichment classes and the online silent auction. We are planning on hosting the live auction gala again this year (*save the date! February 26, 2022). Despite our best-laid plans, we cannot guarantee that these fundraisers will be able to take place as health conditions can quickly change.

Your donations will make a significant impact. Most of the Ed Fund budget pays for the salaries of the program specialists and paras. It is imperative that we secure as much of our budget as possible to ensure that our programs operate uninterrupted throughout the school year. Last year, despite significant budget cuts, we were still able to provide ongoing programming critical to the academic achievement of Alamo students, however, we had to dip into our savings to do so. We need your support to continue to provide excellent programs that enrich student learning and to replenish those funds. We are hopeful that this fall we will have a successful Annual Giving Campaign and have a clear look ahead at the possibility of rehiring personnel that had to be let go due to COVID-19 and expanding programs as our budget allows.

Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and thank you for your generosity!

Sincerely,

The Alamo School Education Fund Board of Directors

PTA

Message from the PTA Presidents, Michelle Petersen & Nicole Rocca:

Alamo families, we are so excited for a return to school!!!! Nicole and I are honored to serve as your PTA presidents and look forward to getting to know both new and returning families. We are so excited to bring the fun back and to tap into the energy that makes Alamo school a very special place.

The goal of Alamo PTA is to provide fun and high quality programs that promote community building and educational opportunities for our children. Alamo’s PTA is run entirely by parent volunteers- most of whom work full time while raising their children. We encourage you to join us in the common goal of making a positive impact in our children's lives and more importantly, providing fun for our kids.

The PTA is planning an exciting lineup of events for this year! The Alamo School Hoedown, the #1 family favorite is back on October 22. Never been to the Hoedown? Think School Carnival that only Alamo School can deliver! Be ready for games, food, prizes, giant slides, trains, bouncy houses and carnival fun. Also returning are in person book fairs, family Science Night, Holiday Shop (another kid favorite) , parent education night and so much more.

By purchasing an Alamo PTA membership you get exclusive access to the School Directory and you are helping to fund the family favorite events that the PTA hosts. Additionally, your financial support provides funds for a kids homework club, the school community garden, the Harvest of the Month program (which introduces kids to different fruits and vegetables every month), manages room parents and partners with our sister school, Dover Elementary in San Pablo to bring much needed resources to kids in need.

Registering through this platform gives you access to the school directory and allows you to receive communications from the PTA and your room parents throughout the year. While registering, please consider purchasing your PTA membership, a birthday message for the school marquee, and dedicate a birthday book to enrich our library or donate to our school garden.

Parent volunteers are the cornerstone of the Alamo School PTA. Volunteering provides an invaluable opportunity to be involved in your child's experience and allows you to get to know students as well as other parents. Please take a look at the variety of volunteer opportunities available and join in where you can. We need you! Any time or effort you can contribute is greatly appreciated and we recognize that we are all volunteers. Give what you can, when you can.

Get to know your PTA and join us August 9th at 2:30pm for an Ice Cream social in the courtyard and on Thursday, August 26th after drop off join us for a second cup of coffee in the amphitheater.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact myself or Nicole directly.

Thank you in advance for your support in building our Alamo School Community together. It is going to be a great year!
