Mountain Elementary School
Welcome Back! August Newsletter
Welcome Back, Mountain Lions!
We had an epic year last year and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. Our teachers are working on bringing more and more environmental education lessons to our students. We will be outside and learning about what Gasquet and our local community can teach us.
We have a new TK-2 teacher in room 3! Please join me in welcoming Dr. Sonya Stinsolotti. This will be her 12th year as a teacher and we are thrilled she is part of our Mountain family.
My door is always open. I am here if you have any questions or concerns. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to the year ahead at Mountain Elementary!

Meet our new TK-2 Teacher! Sonya Stinsolotti, Ed. D.
Greetings! My name is Sonya Stinsolotti, and I am excited to be joining the Mountain team this year. This will be my 12th year as a teacher and am so happy to be working with you and your families. I have lived in many places, and I received my bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature at Georgia Southern University in southeast Georgia. From there, I moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to begin my teaching career. In 2012, I moved to Sacramento, California, and pursued my master’s in English Language and Literature while teaching. In 2018, I met my husband Michael while singing karaoke. I had recently begun a doctorate at Sac State in Educational Leadership. I married my husband during the pandemic in our backyard with our families and a handful of friends on 10/10/2020. I finished up my doctorate in 2021 and decided it was time for something new. My husband and I decided to start a new adventure and moved to Del Norte County in December.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and rescuing animals. We have three rescue dogs who are so much fun and keep us on our toes. Some of my other hobbies include writing, kayaking, traveling, and karaoke. I also enjoy cooking, watching Netflix, and thinking. A couple of my favorite things are the color orange, Coke Zero, and sitting out on my deck among the trees.
Once again, I am looking forward to partnering with you and your family this year and developing strong readers and mathematicians. With your help, we can change the world and develop our future world leaders.
