Friday Focus

Friday, November 7th, 2014

I thought I would try a twist to the traditional "Sunday News" with the Friday Focus. This will be a staff newsletter that will include updates and educator resources that I've collected over the week. Give me your feedback on how you like this format.

Please take time to reflect on our No Worksheet Holiday on the Google Form that I sent you before Monday. Thank you for taking time to do this, as your thoughts are very important.

I also want to give a big shout out of appreciation for the creativity that continued long after No Worksheet Holiday was over. Thank you for working to choose and develop activities that are creating more "uncommon experiences" for our students. I know this takes us out of our comfort zones. Modeling positive risk-taking and failure as adults shows our students the importance of resiliency and perseverance. It is amazing to have a staff that is willing to step outside of the box and to continue to be lead learners.

Have a fabulous weekend!

" The positive atmosphere throughout the WHOLE building K-5 boosted enthusiasm for the day (students and adults). Of course the kids LOVED all of the super fun activities too, and just wanted...MORE MORE MORE! They did not want to go home that night." -McIntire Teacher

"No work sheet holidays rocks, here is why. There are a lot of ways to learn. Did you know that work sheets are not the only thing that help you learn?Work with partners, read a good story, play jeopardy, spelling games, create crafts, learn about plants, watch Tim and Mobby,." McIntire 3rd Grader

Amazing tutorials and ideas!

Great edublog on so many great topics. The newest helps to remind us that innovation isn't always about new, just better today than yesterday.

"There is nothing wrong with using something that has worked before, as long as we make it better each time we use it. There is nothing wrong with trying something we have tried before. There is nothing wrong with pulling out old lessons. Innovation should not be confused with discarding every thing we have tried. There is beauty in the old, in the tried. There is beauty when a teacher has experience. Allow yourself that moment." Pernille Ripp
