Message From Mrs. Robertson
Greetings CMES Families,
If you haven't had a chance to sign up for conferences there is still time!
In order to make parent-teacher conferences productive, here are a few things to consider:
- Prepare questions you would like to ask and information you would like to share in advance of the conference.
- Be patient with the technology.
- Be respectful of time, conferences are scheduled in 15 minute increments.
- Schedule additional time to continue the conversation if needed.
- Share your insight about your child as a learner.
- Follow up with the teacher as needed after the conference.
Please know that Mr. Veronie, Mrs. Horman and myself are available to provide support and hear your feedback.
Yours in education,
Kimberly Robertson

Exciting News - Book Exchange is Back
It may be a virtual learning world, but Mrs. O’Toole cannot wait to have physical books back in the hands of students!
How will it work?
Students use the CMES Library Media Center catalog to place books on hold. Then, during scheduled pick-up weeks, families will pick up their bagged/bundled books from the school’s front vestibule from 9-11AM or 1-3PM. The first scheduled pick-up week will be Monday, October 26 - Friday, October 30.
How does our family get started?
Step 1: First, read about Book Exchange Basics and changes to our weekly library lessons here. Then, access our Procedures, Book Circulation Guidelines, and Pickup Schedule for specific details.
Step 2: Next, complete this quick Parental Acknowledgement Form.
Step 3: Your child may begin placing books on hold!
See our How-To Guide and Video. Students will also receive guided instruction on placing holds during library class.
Please contact Mrs. O’Toole through Schoology or via email maria.otoole@fcps.org with any questions. Book Exchange materials can also be found on the library webpage and in the students’ Media Schoology courses in the black Book Exchange folder.
Join the staff at CMES for some fun as we celebrate fall.
Staff will be dressed in disguise. See if you can guess who is who.
CMES Spirit Wear
Dear Carroll Manor Families,
We know that this year might look different than what we’re all accustomed to, but that doesn’t mean our school spirit should be minimized. If anything, it means that we should be putting even more of our energy into making sure our Carroll Manor Lion pride is loud, strong, and here to stay.
We know Spiritwear is more than just t-shirts and sweatshirts. It’s a connection, when students need it most. Spiritwear gets kids excited about our school, it gets them feeling connected to their friends, and it gets them feeling grounded in the community.
Please join us in spreading excitement about what this school year has to offer and order your Spiritwear online today! Click HERE
The Carroll Manor Online Store is now open for business. And it’ll be open 24 hours a day until October 30th! Share the link to the store with your friends. There’s power in numbers, and we’d really love to see our whole Carroll Manor community, parents & alumni included, showing off their new gear!
Sincerely,
Carroll Manor Elementary School PTACompleting Assignments
