In Loving Memory of Ms. Jane Davidson
Ms. Jane Davidson, former Dyslexia Therapist at Rountree, passed away last fall. Ms. Davidson was dedicated to the students and staff at Rountree and was loved by all. Should you be interested in contributing, her fellow dyslexia therapists have established a scholarship fund in her memory with the Foundation for Allen Schools. The scholarship is designed to be awarded to a former dyslexia student in the district with preference to a former Rountree student in the event of multiple qualified candidates.
Please contact Mrs. Schrader, Rountree Secretary, if you have an interest in contributing - patricia.schrader@allenisd.org. Thank you!

Education through Diversity - Bravery
Ruby Bridges is the brave, young girl who became an American civil rights activist. She was the first African-American child to integrate an elementary school in the South in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the 1960s. She was only 6 years old at that time!
“It’s important for kids to realize that the achievements of the past will only last if they are active participants in the struggle for justice and equality,” said Mrs. Henry.
Barbara Henry is a retired American teacher most notable for being Ruby Bridges' first teacher in her new integrated school, 1st grade and in the 1960s. Mrs. Henry said, “We each had hearts free of prejudice. That was the bond that united us and has become indomitable all these many years later!”
Student ID Badges
Parents, please help your student remember to bring his/her badge ID badge and to have it readily accessible. This is extremely important for students to have this ID for breakfast and lunchtime. The badge system offers a “contactless” breakfast/lunch checkout, while helping our lines move efficiently.
Thank you,
Rountree Cafeteria Staff
January Character Trait: Determination
Determination is the Character Trait we are focusing on in January. Determination means “deciding to finish what you start.” How we spend our time and energy tells other people what we consider important in our lives. By sticking with a task and finishing it, we show others that we think it is worth it.
During January, Rountree teachers will be recognizing students who complete their work on time and have put in their best effort on it. Don’t Forget-- at the end of each month, we will recognize and reward the positive behaviors we are seeing at Rountree. All students, both At-School and At-Home learners, have the opportunity each month to earn a certificate and have their picture made with our Administrators to go on our “Wall of Fame.”
