We want to make sure that we can honor our 8th grade class in a safe way that allows for us to all celebrate their many successes this year! Please see this letter for more information and many details. We do ask that for all of the activities and events that we have planned that families and students continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and people only attend if everyone in their household is healthy and would pass the Raptor Self Certification Questionnaire.

State Assessments/ Evaluaciones Estatales
Freedom Families
As Dr. Mary Havis shared with families, students will be taking the required state assessments this year. When we return from Spring Break we will begin IAR and ISA testing. The tentative plan for testing is for each grade to test a different week, testing only in the morning. While one grade is testing, the other two grades will attend their daily classes as scheduled. During your students testing week, we are asking that all students come into the building.Excel teachers will be sharing your student’s testing room location prior to their testing date. All safety protocols will be followed. Students will need to arrive in uniform each day with a water bottle, mask, earbuds, and charged iPad and charger. When they arrive, we will be checking to ensure the Raptor screening has been completed. Students will not be admitted into the testing until this has been completed. If this is something that you do not feel comfortable with, please reach out to Freedom’s office.
Monday, April 19th-Friday, April 23rd: 7th Grade IAR Testing (9:00 AM -11:45 AM)
Monday, April 26th-Friday, April 30th: 8th Grade IAR Testing (9:00 AM -11:45 AM)

We are excited to announce that the Freedom Middle School library is opening for in-person browsing and circulation. The library model will be different from years past, accommodating Covid-19 mitigations and modeling the district's step-by-step approach. Initially, in-person visits will be limited to hybrid learning students on their days of attendance. This allows us to do all appropriate health screenings efficiently. Students who are in hybrid learning should talk to their teachers to sign up for library visits.
Additionally, all students (hybrid and remote) may still use the library catalog (destiny.bsd100.org) to choose books online. Books held online by hybrid learning students will be delivered to the student's Excel teacher. Books held online by remote learning students will continue to be available at the front of the school for pick up.
Students visiting the library in-person will be expected to follow the same rules as in the classroom. These rules include social distancing, hand sanitizing when entering the room, mask wearing, etc.

English:
With one quarter left of the school year, let’s check in on how our students are feeling! Emotions happen naturally and play an important role in how we think and behave so it is important that we are able to identify and name the emotions we are feeling.
Below is a simple activity you can look at with your child and ask them the following questions: What emotions are you experiencing right now? Can you share a situation where yourself or others might feel those emotions? Can you act out how each one would look?
This exercise helps children develop emotional awareness and encourages them to express how they are feeling.
