Saint Lawrence Every Friday Note
May 5, 2023
Updates
Another great week at Saint Lawrence and they are starting to wind down. 8th grade traditions are in full swing. Today, the 8th grade students led us in a beauty living rosary to celebrate May Crowning followed by a brunch with their mothers. Next week they embark on Washington DC for their 8th grade trip. We offer many prayers for safe travels and meaningful learning experiences.
ILEARN has wrapped up for the school year. ILEARN is obviously an important test, but I want to remind everyone that this is not the only measure of student success. I have witnessed firsthand outstanding teaching and learning. I have seen students fully embrace our theme of Follow the Son. Our students helped the needy at Thanksgiving time by providing over 1000 items to our food bank. Our 6th grade STREAM class organized a school wide initiative to assist the homeless through St. Vincent de Paul collecting items to create homeless kits. This week our students raised over $500 for Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Our students experienced success in athletics, Spell Bowl, and the I Love to Read challenge. Our progress in language acquisition on the WIDA exam showed tremendous growth. Additionally several students and family members have either been baptized and/or confirmed throughout this school year. Our children have grown by leaps and bounds this year and our community has benefitted.
Registration and Account Balance Update
By the end of the school year, the last day of school May 24th, all account balances with the school need to be paid. If your child has been "Pending Accepted" but your balance has not been paid, they WILL NOT be officially accepted for next school year. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Maxson or Mrs. Handley.
Please read the message below about our last day of school which is on Wednesday, May 24th, noon dismissal.

Peyton Manning Children's Hospital Spirit Week
The spirit week fundraiser was a success achieving our goal of raising over $500 to donate to the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Great job student council and great job Rams!

1.Registration for 2023/24 has begun! You can access links to the registration forms on our website school.saintlawrence.net under the Admissions tab. Please look at the admissions
policy for details on our process.
2. Registrations will be open through May 12th . Mr. Maxson has taken a look at students who were registered before April 4th and marked those "pending accepted" who are not on conduct, academic or tuition probation. Large green envelopes with financial aid and school office forms were sent home on April 7th. You will have 30 days to return the
registration fee and all paperwork. Students who were registered after April 4th will be "pending accepted" each week and paperwork will be sent home.
2023-2024 Tuition and Fees structure for K-8
New tuition rates – our base tuition rate will be going up from $6913 per (K-8) student to $7190. For those students that receive the CHOICE scholarship, this difference of $277 will be mostly covered by the increased scholarship amount.
The STREAM and activity fees are not changing. STREAM is still $160 per family and activity fees are still $200 for K-7 and $300 for 8. Both of these fees can be covered by financial aid. The registration fee and processing fee are the only two fees that cannot be covered by financial aid.
Usually the registration fee is due 30 days after student acceptance and the processing fee is due by August 1st . We are not increasing either fee, but we are combining them into one fee that will be due within 30 days after the student has been accepted for the 23/24 school year.
One student = $150 ($125 registration + $25 processing)
Two students =$200 ($175 registration + $25 processing)
Three or more students = $250 ($225 registration + $25 processing)
Growing Concern
A growing problem at Saint Lawrence Catholic School is the number of students who come into the building smelling of secondhand smoke from cigarettes and/or marijuana. This is an unfortunate situation for our students, both the student directly as well as their classmates. The smell permeates the classroom.
This is just one are of concern. The other is the unseen impact that it is having on our students. Our children are still developing. Exposure to secondhand smoke, be it from cigarettes or marijuana, in a compact area like a car, may be producing undesirable effects on your child throughout their school day.
Please make every effort to keep your children free from secondhand smoke on their way to and from school each day.
Eucharistic Revival
One of the great things happening at Saint Lawrence Catholic School is our participation in the National Eucharistic Revival. This year, we have had a few holy hours of adoration as a school in which we spend time with the presence of Jesus. Recently, the US bishops discerned that it was our Mother Mary, under the title Our Lady of Guadalupe, who would be the patroness of the National Eucharistic Revival. As we get ready to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe this weekend and Monday, the timing could not have been better.
In addition, Blessed Carlo Acutis is the patron of the Year of Parish Revival! Blessed Carlo Acutis is a millennial who is on his path to sainthood and is already considered to be the "Patron Saint of the Internet". We studied him in one of our morning meetings as a saint of the day. This is an exciting time for the church.
