Valentine's Day Activities
On Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Morris’s class celebrated with Tie Dye T-Shirts, hand made by Jonah Laine and his family. They also did several fun Valentine activities including graphing candy hearts, and writing “love” letters to a family member incorporating candy heart sayings like:
Mom and Dad I hope you will "be mine" this Valentine’s Day! I love it when you "hug me."
Passing out Valentines
The third graders passed out Valentines to their friends and teachers.
Celebrating
Some of the students really went all out.
Going Home Happy
The kids were all thrilled by the cards and treats from their friends.
On the Academic Side of Things...
Reading
The students in Mrs. Krystofolski and Mrs. Piknick's classes each selected an appropriate novel.
Creating
They created "Book Boxes," which illustrated an important scene from their novel.
Presenting
Each student presented to his or her classmates, and the "Book Boxes" were amazing!
Learning About Harwich
Students continue to travel through the different classrooms for Science and Social Studies units of study. Mrs. Morris teaches them about the history of Harwich, and a favorite activity is the creation of their town buildings.
Building the Volcano
Ms. Smith's class worked in cooperative groups to build a volcano, after having completed their unit!
Eruptions
The students braved the cold to erupt their volcanoes.
Unpredictability
Ms. Smith's class learned that you can never anticipate what kind of eruption you'll get!
K-Rod
A few of our third and fourth grade teachers volunteered to let K-Rod jump over them on his bicycle!
