"The years teach much which the days never know."

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Heritage Day

What Will We Be Learning This Week?

Students will be reviewing math concepts next week. The concepts we will review have been determined by benchmark assessments taken last week. The general areas needing review are fractions, measurement and multiplicative comparisons. Students will also be looking at specific skills that assessments have determined as individual ‘Areas of Need’. Students will be asked to complete some EOG Practice questions for homework next week. If you see an area needing review, you are welcome to make a note on your child’s homework assignment. Thanks, as always, for your support.

Students will read Science Studies Weekly newspapers of their choice next week. Students will be expected to complete a crossword activity with each newspaper read.

Language Arts

We will be discontinuing spelling for the remainder of the year to focus on EOG prep. Since there will be no more spelling homework and since we are finished with the NC Studies Weeklies, we will have an EOG Practice Passage for homework twice each week. We will review these in class.

Since there are not many more days left in the year, we are going to stop doing the Blue Journal as we read the book. This will give us time to finish the book, as well as more time to finish our cursive before the year is through. We will still have a test at the end of the book and possibly other culminating activities including work with character traits and plot if time permits.

Social Studies

We have finished our NC Studies Weekly assignments for the year.
