Grandad's 80th Birthday Celebration
9th-12th May 2014
The weekend explained...
All breakfasts and evening meals will be catered for during the whole weekend, however each family will be responsible for their own lunches.
Any donations of soft drinks, snacks and homemade treats to share in the afternoon will be gratefully received.
We would like to ask everyone to provide some alcohol for the evenings, in particular the party night.
For a bit of fun Sunday evening, we will be having a marketplace where we will exchange naff gifts. In order to contribute to this, each family are being asked to buy 10 very small items priced between £0-£1.00. The cheaper the better as there will be a prize for the cheapest and most imaginative! Please wrap each item in whatever you can get your hands on. You will need your best negotiation skills to end up with the best items.
Saturday- there are several options for the daytime, people can choose to do different activities in smaller groups if that works better:
1: Markeaton park, has a huge park, a small train and donkey rides alongside a paddling pool
2: Westfield shopping centre, has all of the high street shops and also a cinema and food court.
3: Ashbourne town, only a twenty minute car ride into a quaint town with cute shops and tearooms.
4: Denby pottery, pottery museum, tearoom and coffee shop, and pottery shops
5: Carsington water, 30 minute drive with a lovely walk and a visitor centre with activities.
6: Alter rock climbing centre
7: Rollerworld, 15 minute drive
8: Bowling, ten minute drive
After the daytime activities, the evening will be party night with a lovely buffet and entertainment.
*Dwyers got talent* get your microphone ready, everyone is to come up with a talent to perform, either as a group or on your own.
Sunday- a more chilled day with a nice walk, this may be an ideal time to visit Markeaton park. In the evening, there will be a quiz and this is where we will exchange naff gifts!
