Procedures of Taste Test
Procedure-
Step A: Go to a store and buy two containers each of milk chocolate Duncan Hines frosting, milk chocolate Betty Crocker frosting, and milk chocolate Pillsbury frosting, 90 Dixie Cups, 390 serving spoons, and 3 plastic spoons.
Step 1: Lift off the lid of one frosting can and peel off the protective wrapper.
Step 2: Using a plastic spoon, scoop a small amount of frosting out of the can and using a serving spoon scrape it into a cup.
Step 3: Lift off the lid of the second frosting can and peel off the protective wrapper.
Step 4: Using a different plastic spoon, scoop a small amount of frosting out of the second frosting can and put it into a different cup. Use a serving spoon to scrape the frosting off the plastic spoon.
Step 5: Lift off the lid of the last frosting can and peel off the protective wrapper.
Step 6: Using the last plastic spoon, scoop a small amount of frosting out of the last frosting can and put it into a different cup. Use a serving spoon to scrape the frosting off the plastic spoon.
Step 7: Make a randomizer at randomizer.org and make a Google form for the results. Label the numbers with the frosting brands.
Step 8: Put the cups of frosting on a table in the order the randomizer stated and make sure each cup has a serving spoon.
Step 9: Have each of the 130 students take the first cup, let them eat it using the serving spoon. When finished, the students will throw away the cup and spoon.
Step 10: Repeat twice with the second and third cup. Make sure that time is given between each brand of frosting so the flavors don’t mix.
Step 11: Once the student picks their favorite, have them put their choice on a Google form.
Step 12: When every student has submitted their results into their Google form, count or tally up the results for each brand.
Step 13: To clean up, put the lids on top of the leftover or unused frosting containers, and throw away the used spoons. Any of the items that were not used will be put away.
Step 14: If any frosting is on the table, wipe away with a moist paper towel or napkin and throw that garbage away.

Boys Taste Test Results

Conclusion
Our hypothesis was wrong! We thought that Duncan Hines would win, but they didn't. Pillsbury won by 2 votes over Betty Crocker, and got 5 votes over Duncan Hines. Errors in our experiment included the lack of communication between the person with the Randomizer and the person putting out cups. The person who was supposed to be explaining our experiment often didn't explain to the samplers what to do. Our suggestion would be letting kids pick their own group so the experiment would run more smoothly. I would be interested to see which product would win if the tasting was just between Pillsbury and Betty Crocker, because the color of each product of those products is similar.
