The Mariner Message
November
A Month at a Glance
The moment all Mariners have been waiting for (drum roll please....) This week we will be sharing the Dance Off video on the Wednesday Night phone/email message to families! We'll also share it on the PTA Facebook page and in the Anchor's Away newsletter. Get off the couch and cut a rug with your young Mariners (and have a good laugh as well :)! Thank you to all of our families for helping us meet our Boosterthon goal.

Mariner Spotlight-Ronnie and Doris Gilmore
Outside of their work as Mariners, Mr. & Ms. Gilmore attend Terrell Chapel AME Zion Church where Mr. Gilmore is the Co-Pastor and Ms. Gilmore is the First Lady. They have been together for 30 years and married for 25. They have 3 sons, Maurice, Quentin and Quincy but sadly lost Quincy in 2006 who is now in heaven.
The Gilmores are such an important part of our Mariner community and we are so lucky to have them with us!
Great information about college preparedness-even for our K-5 students!
PTA Updates-Julie Ricker, President
Are you receiving the weekly PTA newsletter each Sunday? Especially with our students not on campus daily, staying in touch with school happenings is more important than ever! Sign up today at https://phspta.membershiptoolkit.com/register. You do not have to join the PTA to get the newsletter or attend meetings, but for just $10, you support the school and get a free PHS car magnet: https://phspta.membershiptoolkit.com/packet/5595! Even though we can't be present in the school building this year, the PTA is working hard to help our students and staff, so your ideas and involvement are welcome. Please contact president@phspta.org to find out current volunteer needs.
You can also support PHS by serving as a Thrift Shop volunteer. The majority of our annual budget comes from thrift shop earnings, and the more we volunteer, the more money we get! Shifts are fun and easy and just involve straightening the store and hanging clothing. It's a fun way to get to talk with fellow PHS parents and staff while helping our school! Students age 10 and up can volunteer with a parent, too! Don't forget that volunteers get 50% off at the store on the day you work a shift. Sign up today at: https://phspta.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/22411. Please contact president@phspta.org to with any questions about the thrift shop or if you want to volunteer on a different day than the work sessions already scheduled.
Parent Surveys
The Virtual Learning Survey is for our families whose children are experiencing their learning virtually. This could be our K-2 students whose families opted for Virtual Academy (VA) or our 3rd-5th graders who are still on Plan C.
The Plan B Survey is for our families whose children are experiencing their learning through Plan B- two days a week in school and three days a week virtually.
This information will help us, as a school, understand what is working and what we need to do to improve your child's educational experience. We appreciate your honest feedback.
