Using Guidelines of Differentiating Instruction and Principles of Universal Design for Learning

Course Description:

This three-day interactive professional development series focuses on high expectations, responsive teaching, and meaningful learning. You will learn how to apply five effective practices including having clarity about the learning goal, using continuous assessment, creating a responsive learning environment, providing respectful work and providing experiences that develop expert learners in order to engage each learner and help ensure achievement of the Common Core State Standards.

The five practices integrate:

  • Guidelines for Differentiating Instruction

  • Principles of Universal Design for Learning

  • Frameworks for Effective Teaching

  • 21st Century Skills

Although a school leadership team approach is strongly recommended, individual educators may attend. K-12 leadership teams should include a school administrator, ESE and General Education teacher leaders.
