Community Service Day at Skyview - December 18th

Each year our school community celebrates the pillar of citizenship on our community service day. We sponsor five charities and ask that each team sign up to bring in items for a specific charity. Teams then hear from representative speakers about their assigned charity, create cards for local hospital patients and enjoy a guest reader from around the district.

Below find information for each team and the organization they are sponsoring:

Constellations and USA – Alex’s Lemonade Stand – classrooms will be holding a spare change drive

Mountaineers and Storm ChasersLocal Food Pantry – please donate non-perishable food items (canned fruit or vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, jelly)

CelestialsReading Recycled – new/gently used books

Astronomers and CometsCradles to Crayons – socks, hats, gloves, baby bibs, new/gently used winter coats and clothing, baby board books, AA batteries

Stars and GalaxyWest Side Community Center – pens, pencils, paper, individually packaged healthy snacks (goldfish, pretzels, crackers, popcorn)

Thank you for your support of our annual community service day!

Following our morning service activities, students will be watching Disney Pixar’s movie, Inside Out, in the afternoon. This movie is rated PG. If you do not wish your child to watch this movie, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher by 12/16/15.

Have you participated in our Math survey?

As you are aware we are using new resources in our Math classes this year at Skyview - MyMath in 5th grade and Glencoe in 6th grade. We would like to get feedback on these resources from students and parents. This feedback will help us to continue to strengthen our math program at Skyview. Thank you in advance for providing your input on this brief survey!

Saftey and Emergency Planning

In addition to monthly fire drills, we plan additional drill types throughout the year including those for weather emergencies, lock down and sheltering. As part of our safety plan, Skyview staff and students will participate in a lock-down drill on Friday, December 11th.
