The NG Halloween Parade ...
...was a blast !
Thanks to all who came to cheer us on!
Good morning!
I think we all breathed a collective sigh of relief when the rain held off for our school wide parade! This year more than ever, our kids needed SOMETHING normal and I think we gave it to them! Our Trunk or Treat Friday evening was a bit drippy but that didn't stop the fun!
My thanks to the PTO Trunk or Treat committee for ensuring the show went on ~ it was a super evening.
Hope you can join us for PTO this week ~ Tuesday, November 2 from 6:30-8:00'ish. This will be a perfect time to come to the book fair as well!
Call or email if I can be of service!
Jennifer
We are currently surveying our families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and foster a climate of belonging, we want to know what you think. At NG we are looking for a high return rate as we will use the information from our families to better plan for the future.
To take the survey please head to this ink: https://www.kirkwoodschools.org/survey

VACCINE INTEREST SURVEY
The Kirkwood School District is preparing for the potential emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in children ages 5 to 11 years old. As we have previously, we are looking to partner with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis to potentially offer KSD students access to a COVID vaccine. At this time, we are gauging interest in our school community on coordinating a KSD community COVID vaccine event for students ages 5 to 11. If you are interested in your child receiving a COVID vaccine, please complete the following survey.
Based on survey feedback, we will work with the Urban League to plan and schedule a mass vaccination event for our school community.
Please complete this survey by Saturday, Nov. 6.
KSD is committed to being considerate of students’ and staff members’ privacy related to their individual decisions about getting the vaccine. The Missouri School Immunization Requirements for students do not include the COVID vaccination.
We continue to encourage all staff and eligible students to talk to their healthcare provider about getting vaccinated. The CDC advises that vaccination is currently the leading public health prevention strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic. Adults and children ages 12 years or older can visit MOStopsCovid.com to find a nearby provider and schedule an appointment or locate a walk-in clinic.

CHILI BOWL IS BACK!
One of Kirkwood's most beloved traditions is back on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 24, and we need many hands to make Chili Bowl 2021 a success. This is a districtwide event run by the Kirkwood School District Foundation and we need volunteers from all Kirkwood schools. Help out, meet new people and have fun!
- Shift 1 (4:45-6:15 pm)
- Shift 2 (6:00 - 7:30 pm)
- Shift 3 Cleanup (7:15 pm)
Please note: Since this is a fundraiser, volunteers who want to eat at the event must purchase a ticket. All Chili Bowl tickets will be purchased online for a specific time of entry. After ticket sales are announced, please choose your entry time so that it doesn't conflict with your volunteer shift. Thank you!

Kirkwood Educational Equity Speaker Series : A Conversation about Critical Race Theory (CRT) – What is it anyway?
Many may have heard the term “CRT,” but don’t have a concept of what it is or what it means. To provide information on this theory and clarify how the concept is discussed in higher education, the panel will include Professor Kenya Brumfield-Young, a part of the Criminology/Criminal Justice program at St. Louis University’s School of Social Work. In this journey to connectedness through conversation, there will also be discussion of how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work in K-12 education differs from “CRT”.
