This Is How We Lakeview
March Edition
Spring is on the way!
Scheduling is underway! Lakeview students and families have now been presented with all the information needed for students to schedule for the 2021-2022 school year. Please let us know if you have any questions. On Monday, we had the scheduling meetings. If you were not able to attend, the recordings are linked with the scheduling information later in the newsletter.
Due to traffic flow, we are going to slightly alter where students can enter the building in the mornings for parent drop-off. We used to have a separate 7th and 8th grade entrance but starting next week students can enter the doors closest to where they are exiting the vehicle. We are seeing too many people stop and let their student off at a specific entrance and this is causing the line to slow down. Students should exit the vehicle anywhere along the curb. This will allow 10-12 cars to drop off at the same time and allow for a better traffic flow. I know that it was backed up this week and it will only get worse when we return all 5 days in April. Please watch for Mrs. Hanagan and Mrs. Cruse to direct you to keep pulling forward. We appreciate your help in making the drop-off as quick as possible.

Preparing for return to school full time
As the weather turns warmer, we are preparing not only for the sunshine but also the return of all students to the building. We have been reminding students of the expectations and emphasizing that while it will be different having all of our students in the building at the same time, the expectations remain the same.
- Students will still be required to wear a mask while in school at all times. Teachers will have the ability to give students mask breaks if time/weather permits.
- Mask breaks are done outside. Students will be reminded that if they remove their mask, they need to be socially distanced at least 6 feet from any other individual during the break.
- Students won't be issued lockers; therefore, they'll continue to carry items from class to class.
- One-way hallways and stairwells will still be utilized.
- Students will still have a staggered dismissal between class periods.

Vote Now for the 2021 Columbus Parent/ThisWeek Teachers of the Year
This school year has been a tough one for teachers and parents alike. Help us support some of these hardworking Central Ohio educators by voting in the 2021 Teachers of the Year awards, presented by Columbus Parent and ThisWeek Community News.
The program, in its eighth year, honors outstanding educators at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. Fifteen finalists were selected and one winner will be named in each category.
Our very own Jake Duffy, Intervention Specialist, has been nominated. Please take the time to vote. Click here to vote!
To view the finalists and vote for the various nominees, please follow this link. Readers can vote for one teacher in each category. Voting ends March 24.
The results will be announced in the Summer issue of Columbus Parent and in ThisWeek Community News.
Scheduling information for CURRENT 7th GRADE students
It's Scheduling Time - Welcome to the Hub!
It's time to schedule classes for the 2021-22 school year. We created a Scheduling Hub for students and families so you can find everything you need to register for classes at the Junior Highs all in one place. Check out the Junior High Scheduling Hub to find course descriptions, placement explanations, "How to" guides, and more!
Explore the Hub and make sure you watch the Welcome Video and the How to Schedule video - and don't forget to take a look at the Scheduling Timeline we sent out last week for important dates you don't want to miss!
If you still have questions after you've checked out all the resources and information in the Scheduling Hub, find the Google Form at the bottom of the Hub to ask your school counselors and principals.
The scheduling window will be open from Monday, February 22 to Friday, March 12.
Happy Scheduling!

8th GRADE students going to PICKERINGTON HIGH SCHOOL NORTH for 2021-2022 school year
The high school has created a Scheduling Hub with links, videos and all the information that you need to schedule your 8th grader for high school. I have also attached the scheduling timeline (with updated links for some Google meets run by the high school counselors) for our current 8th grade students to schedule courses for Pickerington High School North.
If you missed the virtual parent meeting this past Wednesday, the link to the recording is below.
Please feel free to email me, rachael_hanagan@plsd.us if you have any questions.
Last call for Parent-teacher conferences
We have one evening left for parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, March 9th. Teachers will be scheduling conferences from 3:40-7:00 pm on these days. All parent-teacher conferences will be held virtually this year. Please reach out to one of your student's team teachers to schedule a conference with the entire team. Electives teachers are also available for conferences; you can either request them to attend the conference with the team or schedule a separate time to meet with them.
The Dentist is coming to school!
Pickerington Local School District has partnered with Ohio Dental Outreach to offer you in-school dental care. Ohio Dental Outreach will be at our school on Monday, March 22nd and Thursday, March 25th. A form will be going home with you student or you can fill it out online at www.MySchoolDentist.com. If you have any questions please email the school nurse (melanie_thompson@plsd.us).
