McClatchey Messenger For Staff
Happy Summer!
Looking So Forward to the 18-19 School Year!
It's hard to believe it is mid-July! We are busy planning and getting ready for all of you to come back to DME! Lot's of fun activities planned, personalized professional development, and of course, new cute staff shirts coming your way!
As we begin a new journey together, we will continue to build on our vision and mission statements of developing students to become leaders as they discover their passions! We also want to continue to forge ahead designing lessons that encourage the 4 C's. (creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration). DME was built to forge ahead developing these 21st century skills, so our kids can achieve great things!
You may have heard a lot about restorative discipline. At our school, when we discipline we use that time as an opportunity to develop each child's individual character. As teachers, you do this in the classroom, as well. We will continue to have our students focus on knowing their purpose, finding their passion, and delivering all they do with PRIDE! We will also continue to instill our character pillars in all we do!
This will be DME's third year! We are growing up! It is going to be so exciting to see how our first year kindergartners, that will now be in second grade, collaborate with one another in our flexible classrooms and hallways! Research shows that students will naturally want to be involved with groups of students to work together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product when they have been given the freedom to work in this type of environment! As our students move up from one grade level to the next, it is exciting to see how they show off their abilities to learn in a flexible environment, while the teacher facilitates. Our L.A.M.P. time will also continue to flourish as our young learners advance in each grade level.
Most of all, we want to thank each of you for your dedication to our school, students, families, and each other! DME is only as successful as the people under its roof! ...and what a beautiful roof to be under. We have said it many times...who would not want to come to work at DME...who would not want to come to learn at DME!
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
