Congratulations, Meadows! Blue/ Blue ELA/ Math on the California Dashboard Data!

The California Dashboard Data was just released this week! I have some incredible news to share with you about Meadows' academic performance last school year on the California Dashboard and overall CAASPP performance and growth. There are only two schools in our entire district that met BLUE/BLUE (the highest marks) for ELA and Math. One of them is MEADOWS. Congratulations to our students and our staff! We are incredibly proud of the work that has been accomplished with our students. Our entire district is very proud of our students' performance. This is an incredible celebration for our school. Way to go, Meadows! This is a significant achievement and recognition for our school. To learn about what the California Dashboard is, please click here.

Women in History Volunteers Needed

Women in history has been a program at Meadows Elementary School for several years now. The AAUW (American Association of University Women) choose six renowned women every year to present to over 12 local schools. The women chosen have made major contributions in science, sports, academics, literature, society, etc. This year we are featuring female authors. Last year we focused on women athletes, the year before scientists, and the year before that First Ladies. Volunteers sign up to portray one of these characters. They are given a script and perform a short ten minute presentation in a classroom. The kids enjoy it and ask questions after the presentations. The presentations are based solely on the volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers can present in however many or few classes chosen.

If anyone is interested in being involved, please contact Emily Banks Verdi, Meadows parent at (there are two "b"s in this email). Please let her know if you have any questions. The event is held in March and is an easy way for parents to get involved at Meadows.

Looking forward to Events in 2020 at Meadows... "Town Hall" and "Coffee with the Principal"

When we return from break, we will be hosting a Town Hall event for parents to give us feedback on our Facilities Masters Plan. This conversation will allow you to give facilities feedback on upgrades and input through a school safety, technology and 21st century classroom perspective. Please join us on 1/28 at 6:00pm for this. We will also have a "Coffee with the Principal" on 2/11 featuring Mr. John Turner, Principal of Placerita Junior High School. Learn all about programs offered at Placerita and what you can do to help prepare your child for Middle School success. We will also have a school safety "Coffee with the Principal" with the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department and the officers directly working with us on school security measures and responses. The "coffees" will allow you to bring questions, comments and concerns in an informal setting with experts on these topics. PTSA will also be hosting a Kindergarten Parent Social to allow our newest Meadows students' families to get to know one another and learn how to get involved in our school. More information to come soon. Lots to look forward to in 2020!
