CCHS Student Reports The Weather!
If you remember back in December we told you about Colleton County High School student, Kendall Crosby, whose dream is to one day being a weather reporter. Well, that dream came true this week!
Kendall's Marketing Teacher, Ms. Cochran, along with his marking classmates reached out to Live 5 News and Bill Walsh who invited Kendall to visit the news station.
Take a look below!
SpellBound
We would like to acknowledge how proud we are of our very own Dalton Litchfield, 8th grader at Colleton County Middle School. Dalton participated in the 31st Annual SpellBound 2023 Spelling Bee. Spellers were from lowcountry middle schools of Berkeley County, Dorcherster 2 &4, Charleston County, and Colleton County. Ranking 11 out of 30 spellers, Dalton successfully made it through 3 rounds of intense and complicated words.
Way to go Dalton!
CCHS Student Speaks at USC Salk School Counselor's Luncheon
The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie Campus held a School Counselors Luncheon on March 3, 2023. They discussed the wide variety of opportunities the school has to offer including majors, degrees, sports programs and the new technology lab. Christopher Green, the Director of Recruiting, stated that "Salk is the best kept secret of the lowcountry." One of our very own, Christian Singleton, a junior at Colleton County High School, was also on the agenda. He is in the dual enrollment program and spoke on his experience as a Salk student. He said the Salkehatchie experience is very rewarding. It has taught him the importance of studying hard and being responsible for your education. He loves being in the program and is glad he was given the chance to participate. He will graduate high school with an associate's degree and plans to further his education possibility in engineering.
USC Salk Visits CCHS
Nia Jackson and Isaiah Robinson of USC Salk brought much knowledge about admissions and their various programs to CCHS’s health science department. Students had a chance to play Salk trivia and win prizes too.

PBIS Events In CCSD
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students' behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. PBIS is a proactive approach schools use to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment. With PBIS, our schools teach students positive behavior strategies, just as they would teach about any other subject.
"Lit" Lunch is one of the PBIS incentives at CCHS for students that adhere to the expectations of the school. In this case it was students who did not have any tardies or referrals for a certain time period.
During the student's lunch period, students were allowed to go to the front of the school area and participate in many events that were provided by the Admin team. Students were allowed to bring their lunch outside and sit down next to the pond or in the designated areas in the front of the school. Students also had an option to bring a blanket to spread out to have an authentic picnic experience. The leadership team provided soft drinks, popcorn, and chips for each student. They also provided music and a variety of games and activities for them to participate in. Students really enjoyed this time outside to walk freely, sit and talk, or just relax and enjoy the music.
The behaviors outside were excellent and students were engaged and happy.
Hendersonville Elementary School also held a PBIS Event for there students which included face painting and jump castles!
CCMS 6th Grade Dance
Sisters in Action and Boyz to Men hosted the 1st Annual 6th Grade Dance at Colleton County Middle School. The dance was held in the cafeteria on March 3rd. It was a privilege for the 6th grade students to attend this event that promoted healthy social skills amongst peers and gave the students the opportunity to get their dance on!
Earielle Ruth was named 6th Grade Princess
and
Reginald Manigo was named 6th Grade Prince.
This event would not have been possible with our the Sisters in Action and Boyz to Men advisors, Jocelyn Grant, Sonya Stephens, Kayla Johnson and James Daniels. Thank you to all of the 6th grade parents and chaperones who made this dance a success! A special thanks goes to Chef Williams and his TCTC Culinary Arts class for providing the delicious cupcakes.
