Spirit Days

  • August 5th - Sports Day - wear a shirt for your favorite sports team, or any sports related clothing
  • August 12th - School Spirit Day - wear your Strive shirt
  • August 19th - All One Color Day - dress all in one color of your choice. This will be our final Spirit Day for the summer.

Fun Friday Activities

  • August 12th - Wheels Day/Wheels Wash - Feel free to bring your own wheels and helmet, but we'll have plenty at the center to play with. We'll get the hose out and wash down our wheels too!
  • August 19th - What melts in the sun? Science experiment outside, all materials provided by Strive. This will be our final Fun Friday for the summer.

Caregiver Appreciation

Friday, Aug. 19th, 3pm

Brighton and Burton

Please join us for caregiver appreciation just before pick up time!

In Brighton - head over to the Coffee Beanery for a treat on us.

In Burton - head back to Garrett's Place and enjoy a treat on us.

All caregivers welcome! This is a great opportunity for a coffee and to connect with other caregivers.

Ways to Communicate

Remember that we have lots of ways for you to access more information about your child's day. You can login to Rethink as often as you like to read your child's session notes - we generate a session note for each AM and PM session - so a child who attends all day will have 2 notes per day. On days with speech therapy, you may see additional notes, as we adjust for billing ABA around the speech services - sometimes one of these notes will simply say "see other AM note" as we'll collect the data on one of the notes.

In addition to session notes in Rethink, you have access to a variety of written reports, including any assessments and progress reports. You can download or print those reports and share them with other providers or your child's teachers. We can also help you share information, but this is a quick way for you to access it.

Our TheraWe platform is another way to find out more about your child's day. All caregivers can be part of the TheraWe team - so let your BCBA know if you'd like another caregiver to be signed up. TheraWe allows us to post pictures and updates on your child, and allows caregivers to see them and to comment as well. It is a HIPAA compliant way for us to share that info with only caregivers you designate.

If you have any questions on the use of Rethink or TheraWe, please reach out to your BCBA. We can take time to sit down with you and show you how to use either platform.

Rethink Community Resources

We just recently discovered this great resource from Rethink for parents, and wanted to share with you.

Rethink has a variety of podcasts, blogs, and articles for parents on all sorts of topics available here.

Some of the topics that caught our eye:

  • Summer Hacks for Parents - a podcast
  • Going Back to School: How do we do this again? - a podcast
  • Parenting Siblings: Can't we just get along? - a podcast
  • Halloween Guide for Children on the Autism Spectrum - a blog
  • Caring for Caregivers - a blog

Please check it out for lots of helpful info.

Fall Transitions

Please let your BCBA know the details on any fall transition plans. We know it's still hot out, but we are planning for fall now.

If your child will be attending school for the first time or returning to school, please let us know the start date. If you anticipate a need to change your schedule at Strive (such as moving from AM to PM, or if you're interested in increasing or decreasing hours) you'll need to talk with your BCBA.

Increases in hours require pre-approval from insurance companies, and those approvals can take 6-8 weeks, so we really need to plan now.

Decreases in hours may be easier on the insurance front, but there can be ramifications for your next authorization if you don't attend a high percentage of the hours in the current authorization, so those require a talk with your BCBA too.

Please just share your fall plans with us so we can make sure your child continues to receive the best possible care!
