A Space Leader
who is Chris Hadfield?
Appearance Matter- and remember to smile
Chris Hadfeild is a leader who knows how much appearance matter if you want others trust and respect you. Therefore, there is never a time when Chris isn't smiling, whether it’s when he is interacting with his crew members or viewers watching his YouTube videos. Which is also why he makes videos of himself experimenting in space. So he can inspire others and teach them about space and the unknown. In the YouTube videos he is always dressed casually or in his space suit because he knows that the video isn't supposed to be something serious, it’s for people to learn and enjoy. However when he makes his speeches about inspiration, living your dream and leadership in front of a crowed he is always dressed up in suites so people know that he is serious. He knows how to dress for the occasion.
Courage is not the absence of fear - it's inspiring others to move beyond it
Chris Hadfield became the first Canadian to ever become Commander of the International Space Station something other than Russian or American astronauts haven’t done. He manage to set a very important milestone for the Canadians, inspiring so many in Canada to do the same. As he leader of the ISS he hoped to do nothing less than encourage others as he said in one of his speech “The greatest gift you can give to somebody is an essential fundamental belief in a purpose within themselves of something that helps give them guidance in the distance – something to help make the small decisions in your life,” Chris is defiantly a leader who knows how to inspire others to move beyond.
Quitting is leading too
Although Chris Hadfield didn't necessary quite, he did decided to retire after a long time given to space. However, even after retiring he hasn't stopped teaching people about space and being a good leader. He knows that although he can’t go to space himself, he can still teach people about space through books, speeches and videos. Although he has retired as an astronaut, his love for space still continues.
