Educators in Entrepreneurship: A FREE Professional Development Workshop
GSE and Awesome Inc will unveil FREE curriculum on June 11th
The workshop is completely free with breakfast and lunch provided, and those who attend will have an opportunity to pilot new curriculum designed by GSE and Awesome Inc. that simulates for middle and high school students the experience of a startup weekend.
Entrepreneurship is a journey full of twists and turns. The initial unit from the curriculum being developed by the Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs and Awesome Inc, through the RISE initiative led by KY Innovation, will allow students an experiential journey through the framework of an elongated Startup Weekend. Students will be introduced to components of the business model canvas, lean startup methodology, and design thinking principles. Not only will students delve into these concepts, but a direct focus on the cultivation of critical soft skills will be layered throughout the content. Through the lens of project-based, interdisciplinary learning, teams will develop a business model, design a prototype, and pitch their startup at the culmination of the unit. Emphasis will be placed on student autonomy and true exploration of entrepreneurship.
