Qualifications
Senators must be at least thirty years of age, citizens of the United States for nine years before the election, and legal residents of the state they represent. All voters of each state elect senators statewide.
Term of Office
They give senators 6-year terms and have to reelection every two years. Staggered elections are held in November of even-numbered years.
Salary & Benefits
The Senate makes $174,000 per year. The benfits they get are stationary, postage for official businesses, medical clinic, and a gymnasium.
Privileges
Their privileges are free from arrest; in all cases except treason, felony, and breach of the peace, when they are attending Congress or on their way to or from Congress.
